-Does anyone know the ratio of interviewees to spots in a program? Is it 5 interviewees per 1 resident spot? 4:1? 10:1?

Thanks!

I will tell you that a program director at a moderately competitive location said they shoot to rank at a 6:1 ratio... So they would interview more than that.

Data for that would be extremely personal, I would think. Depends how competitive you are for you #1 vs #2, etc..

Just my opinion.

My home program issues about 13 invitations for each spot, expecting 10 to actually interview. Top 20-ish program, big hospital system, so-so location.

About 80% match within their top 3 spots. Don't know the breakdown between 1, 2, and 3. NRMP releases a ton of data, so you may be able to figure it out.

Yeah I saw that thread, but the superstar folks on here haven't reported anything from BWH, so I'm a bit skeptical.

In any case, I'm just waiting on word from BWH and hopefully UPenn and UCLA (sent emails to those two) before I start booking flights. I will start canceling some interviews early next week and aim for a total of 10-12 programs.

I think I got that email too i think, kinda felt like more of a nicely worded rejection. Got the same thing from johns hopkins. Never said the words 'rejection' or 'waitlist.' Just that the interviews had filled but should something open up there was still the possibility that more invites would be sent out. As opposed to a couple other programs that explicitly asked if I would like to be placed on a waitlist.

Yeah I saw that thread, but the superstar folks on here haven't reported anything from BWH, so I'm a bit skeptical.

In any case, I'm just waiting on word from BWH and hopefully UPenn and UCLA (sent emails to those two) before I start booking flights. I will start canceling some interviews early next week and aim for a total of 10-12 programs.
