2013-2014 APPIC (internship) interview thread

🙁 Sorry to hear. I'm scared because the only sites that are left are getting to be my top choices (minus one that I already heard from), and if they reject me I'll be sooo devastated.

Edit: I phrased that oddly... I mean they were my top choices when I submitted my apps and now they're almost the only ones left.

I'm in the same boat with WPIC-- I'm assuming its a rejection since I didn't get the mass email invite either.

Hopefully if they're your top choices they're also your best fits (=more likely to get interviews)? Here's hoping lots of GOOD news comes tomorrow...
 
Yeah, if I get interviews at these places I will believe in the "fit" idea. Until then, I will believe that this process is random and soul-crushing. 😉

Fingers crossed for good news tomorrow as well! Lord knows we need it!
 
Congratulations everyone who got invites today!!! My silent streak continues. Fortunately no more of my sites have sent invites, so hopefully tomorrow/Wednesday/next week brings good news! Hang in there everyone--only 3 weeks to the 15th!
 
A poster sent in the following info about UMB/Baltimore VA: "i have a friend who is currently an intern at the balitmore VA, and she told me that they sent out interviews and some rejections, but that they also have a "maybe" list of people they have not yet notified. no real details on what they plan to do with that "maybe" list but if you didn't hear your might be on it?"

Now THIS is the kind of info we need. Ask your friends who are interns what's up at their site, even if you didn't apply there. Its a prosocial activity!

Thanks for keeping this running list. I have a couple corrections for you to consider: (a) There are two Puget Sound VA internships (Seattle and American Lake) -- the info you have is for Seattle only, so it might be good to clarify that. (b) The two UCSF entries listed are actually the same internship (CPTP or Clinical Psychology Training Program), just different tracks.

Fixed; thanks. Obviously, I can't and don't profess to know the details of every--or even most--internship sites, so info like this helps.

I am waiting on 19.5 (I had a prelim at Columbia so not sure if I'll make the second round). Only one of them is a probable rejection and the rest are still MIA. I have 2 interviews, so I'm really not complaining, I consider myself very lucky to have any good news, but man, there are a lot of sites still to notify...
 
Invite Medical College of South Carolina 11/26. I applied to their child psyc track, general track and trauma track (you were allowed to list three tracks in cover letters). The available dates for interviews have been listed by previous folks posting on this forum.

I got that email as well (MUSC), I only applied to the child track. Hope this helps, I had given up hope once I saw that the first invites went out over 10 days ago. So don't give up if you haven't heard anything!

Congrats! I too applied to multiple tracks at MUSC. In their invitation, did they notify you regarding which tracks you will be interviewing for?
 
Invite to the Medical College of Georgia 11/26 via phone. I applied to the HIV track, and the dates she gave me were 12/13, 12/16, 1/13, and 1/17.
 
Same here as well for MUSC. I applied for child psych and traumatic stress track. PsychStudent09, they did not indicate in the email which tracks but did suggest faculty members we could interview with that day. After reviewing the faculty interests they match up with the tracks I applied for.

Yeah, MUSC says on their website that they send out invites at different times. Congrats!

No, but they did suggest faculty to meet with (they ask you to list five faculty that you would like to meet with). The faculty they suggested are wither child, trauma, or both.

Oh man, again...2 more in a 10-minute span:
-Medical College of Georgia/Augusta VA (Health Behavior track)--phone call 11/26; dates offered 12/9, 12/16, 1/3, 1/6, 1/10, 1/13, 1/17 (I think...there were a lot)
-South Texas VA (Health Psych) -- mass email 11/26; dates offered same as above.
 
Invite to MercyFirst, received phone call
Applied to Brooklyn track but all interviews on Long Island
Interviews Thursdays December 26- January 23
 
I'm getting nervous...I applied to MercyFirst and haven't heard yet +pity+
 
I just spoke with the South Texas VA training director (the email said to call to schedule interviews) and it appeared that they were interviewing for all tracks (she asked me what tracks I had applied to, because she didn't want to look in all the databases!). It seemed like they were interviewing for any tracks you applied to, rather than telling you which specific one.

Invite from University at Albany UCC - Personalized but generic email. Asked to call next week after December 2nd to schedule interviews starting December 16. Phone interviews only.
 
If anyone is interviewing at the Vanderbilt Consortium on 12/5 or 12/6 (or both) and would be potentially interested in splitting the cost of a hotel room nearby, please send me a message! 🙂

Invitation to an open house at Western State Hospital (forensic site) received 11.26.2013. Open house is scheduled for 1.8.2014. Attendance is not mandatory for consideration. Generic email to invitees.
 
I woke up last night having dreams that I accidentally sent my sites the wrong interview dates and woke up at 6am in a panic making sure I wasn't wrong. I can't relax, even in sleep 🙁 🙁
 
I got a rejection email from Kingsborough Hospital Child Track yesterday afternoon. It's true that the first cut it the deepest but I guess that eliminates the long commute issue...
 
alright everyone... let's not get ourselves down yet... i'm seeing several down/sad messages... even though this is a scary, anxiety provoking, nerve-racking, etc. etc. situation, let's keep in mind that it is not even Thanksgiving yet, and most internship sites do not even start looking at applications before Thanksgiving. Let's all try to do some deep breathing 😉, try to enjoy this holiday and hope we start hearing great news next week. Trust me, I know it's not easy to do, and I've been trying my best to do it. But let's all shake off the bad news (or no news) we got, remember that it is still too early, and keep thinking positive!!! :highfive:

I like your positive outlook! I just keep chalking things up to fate because I did all that I could in preparation and now, it's out of my hands. Somehow that brings me more peace.

I applied to the neuro track at Vanderbilt and haven't heard a word even though they started sending invitations last Monday. Two really strong candidates from my program were offered interviews early last week, so I'm assuming I was rejected but I still feel this odd sense of anxiety from not having an official word either way.

Me too! What does this mean? Only some people are invited to the open house, and not all who applied there? I want to go, I wouldn't know how to rank them if I didn't. Are you going? Thanks and congrats!!
 
Rejection from Yale SOM (substance abuse track). Generic email. :-(
