Hard to believe nobody on here has heard from Children's Institute given their multiple positions available through Phase 2, though I guess they implied that they had extended interviews to some?

I know. I was hoping to get an interview

No kidding, maybe someone will get an interview later this week.

Guess so! Seems to be cutting it pretty close to me!

Hi all! I'm new here and am so happy I found this forum! Very helpful information and supportive colleagues 🙂 Congrats to all those who have interviewed and for all of us making it this far!

I interviewed at Oklahoma Forensic Center and wasn't a fan (not as much neuro as I want), won't be ranking it. I'm all about neuro so I'm limited to the types of places I can apply to but I am not geographically tied down anywhere. Wondering, has anyone heard from St. Joseph's in Canada? Thanks!

i haven't heard netting on sdn bout st joe's yet, waiting on them meself.

I know St. Joseph's had some interview times last week. It's possible they are still interviewing though. 🙁 Sorry!

I got the "we'll rank you" email from Arkansas and responded immediately thanking them for their consideration. I got a really warm personalized email back. I'm not sure how second tier we are, actually.

Ugh, so frustrated right now. I interviewed with a site in phase I, and they still had an opening in phase II. I contacted the TD asking for feedback about my interview, trying to understand why I wasn't ranked. The TD explained that I actually received high scores on my interview, but I just didn't have the number of hours they were looking for. I was also encouraged to reapply. Well, I hadn't heard anything for awhile and I sent an email last week asking about my status, and I finally got an email yesterday saying I was no longer under consideration. Why did they interview me in the beginning if it was about my hours? Why ask me to reapply? I wasted all that time and money!!!!

That's frustrating--I would be so annoyed with all of the time I spent crafting cover letters, etc! Hard to know why they wouldn't just be upfront with you at the start of Phase 2 by saying you didn't have the training background they were looking for... Bummer!!

Fingers crossed. Do you know if the invite was via email?

It was a personalized email on Friday the 28th with phone interview times listed during the week of March 3rd. It's possible they did all the interviews that week, or maybe they did it in waves. I think Phase II is just too unpredictable to be certain of anything!

Not to mention the flights and hotels! I had to wedge that interview in between two others, so I ended up with 3 interviews in 3 different cities in 3 days!

Those of you that interviewed at mailman center, how long was your interview with some of the supervisors, I know the TD said her interview would be 20 to 30 minutes. I just didn't know if the other interview would be the same amount of time.

I asked the woman who scheduled the interviews and she told me they would also be between 20-30 minutes. It was kind of tricky because I first got scheduled at the same time as another interview and luckily was able to reschedule but now it's back to back with another immediately after--hoping it lasts closer to 20 so I have a bit o a break!

Awesome, thank you! I hope you get a bit of a break too.

Woke up to a personalized interview invite at Astor (Bronx site)! So excited about this one!

Sites are still reaching out, you guys... there is still hope. 🙂

I received an on the spot phone interview from the Bronx VA on Monday. I do not think they are done though.

On the spot? Wow, that must have been intimidating. I hope more of us hear from them...

How are you all dealing with not getting your hopes up? I definitely got my hopes up in the first phase and though I feel like I'm a great match for a site I know it's probably a 10% chance (As in most interview 10 people per spot).

For me, my Phase I hopes were tied to the match stats based on number of interviews received in that phase. For Phase II, we don't have access to stats based on numbers of interviews, just an across the board number that shows if we submit a rank order list in this phase we have a 1/3 chance of matching. But when you take into consideration your number of interviews in this phase combined with the number of spots available at each site .... It's hard to know. I find myself optimistic despite it all. Who knows.

Here's the thing...I also received a warm, personalized email complete with times to contact the site in response to my inquiry. :-(

I forgot to mention that I was asked to participate in an on the spot interview at the Bronx VA yesterday. I asked if they'd call me back in 10 mins so I could gather my notes🙂

Has anyone heard anything from Brown at this point? I know someone had posted earlier this week that they would be contacting people this week but it's surprising no one has posted yet.

Last year's stats show that there was no significant difference between the number of interviews in phase ii between matched and unmatched applicants. I was crushed on match day I, so am hoping, but not expecting to match in phase ii to save myself heart ache.

It is SO difficult to not feel hopeful, especially for the places where you think you have a great fit. I remember in the beginning of the Phase II process I kept telling myself to not be hopeful because I felt the Phase I result was so painful because of all the hope and investment. I even yelled at one of my friends because she kept being hopeful for me and telling me "you just need one interview to match"... I think it makes sense to stay realistic but at the same time, having our hopes up is a natural process when we want this to work out so badly. I wish I had a better answer because I grapple with this every single day, too.

does this seem odd to anyone? last week when everyone started worrying and calling sites, I was thinking it was too early, but now i'm starting to get worked up!

I know how you feel. There are many sites I have not heard from either. I have not received a response to two emails I sent either. I am getting a little anxious too because these are the last couple of days

I am starting to think about ranks, and need some advice. I had a total of four interviews. Three of them I would be very excited to go to and have family in those areas. The fourth one is in a less desirable and more rural location in the middle of the USA. I am worried that if I rank that site last and end up matching there, it would be difficult to find a postdoc in the states I want to live in. When I asked the DCT of that site about postdocs, she said that most of the students find postdocs in the mid-west, which is not bad, but not where I want to live due to my family being elsewhere. Do you think it would be better to match there and get internship over with or apply again next year, have no health insurance, and live off of my savings next year?

That is a good concern. The way it was explained to me by my DCT for my school is to rank highest and in the order of where you want regardless of location. The problem with possibly not ranking the less desirable site is that if you don't match to the others, you will have to apply next year. You have to weigh out if you are willing to go to that fourth site or if you are prepared to possibly apply in November again.

I too have a fourth site I am not fond of, but I will be ranking them last because I can't afford to have all my loans kick in. I'm already having to pay undergrad loans. I personally will deal with post doc when the time comes. I feel that if you do quality work and do everything to enhance your skills therapeutically and in administering assessments, you should be able to land a post doc. Don't psych yourself out. Deal with one hurdle at a time. It will all work out the way it should. If you don't land a post doc, it means your weren't meant to be at those centers. There is something better suited for you.

thanks. This is helpful. I forgot all about loan repayment. I guess that is something else I should consider.

Your question is a great one, and one I've been asking myself. The problem is, human beings are programmed a certain way and it is impossible to "turn off" hope entirely, no matter how discouraged you are. You have another opportunity to match, and so you are naturally going to consider the possibility that it will turn out in your favor. The way I see it - regardless of how much you tried to convince yourself that you won't match, it's still going to hurt if and when you don't.

That being said, don't focus too much on percentages and odds, even though I know it's tempting. This morning, I said something similar about my odds to my mom, who is very wise and doesn't mince words. She said, "I don't give a s*** about odds. I've seen things work out well when all odds were against it working out, and I've seen things crash and burn when there was no doubt in anyone's mind that it would be fine." At the end of the day, it's not over until it's over, on March 24th. May the odds be in your favor!

Very well stated. I have been working for my clinic for 8 years and thought I would definitely get matched here. My supervisor thought so as well and it didn't happen.

This is after all the Internship games! Lol

In addition to what Psychgirl305 mentioned, I can say that I've never heard of the geographic location of an internship being a factor that worked against someone when looking for postdocs. It's seemingly the norm nowadays that folks will move for internship, and then move yet again for postdoc. Having an internship in the area where you'd like to find a postdoc can of course be beneficial in terms of networking, but it's not any sort of necessity. What's going to be more important is that you're able to get the kind of training you want while on internship.

Personally, I'd be much more interested in finding a postdoc close to where I eventually wanted to end up. But even then, it's still up in the air. Take me for example: I'll have moved for every single phase of my training (for grad school, then for internship, then again for postdoc, and one last time for my job once I finish up my fellowship).

"The Rank Order List is now on file with NMS and ready to be used in the Match. There is nothing further you need to do to participate in the Match."

I had to submit my ROL. I don't expect any more interviews before Monday, and I know I can make changes until the deadline if I wish, but I freak out about my password not working or internet connection misdirect or something catastrophic getting in the way of my rankings being submitted. We will see what March 24 brings. Good luck to everyone - I truly mean that.

Who wants to take the bullet and ask how many people the Bronx VA are interviewing? I wish I did.
