@TwinsFan Congrats on all of those acceptances! I noticed all of your acceptances at TX schools happened on the same day. Is that coincidental? I'm pretty ignorant to their whole process.

11/15 was the first day schools in Texas could offer IS acceptances. These "pre-matches" are used to recruit school's top candidates with a guaranteed acceptance before the match in early February. The match is where all schools rank their interviewees and interviewees rank all the IS schools they interviewed at and an algorithm attempts to match everyone to their highest respective options.

Interesting you noticed my intent, though I can't say I qualify as a 'good person'. Having worked with a neglected population (US inmates) I really wanted to find a program that emphasized serving their community. Next month I'll hear from Boston University, I really liked them as well after finding about how they served the local under-served community of Roxbury etc.

After all, medicine is a service based career.

Lol i noticed because I got rejected from Oakland and silent rejected from Loyola. Also Tulane. I asked Oakland what was up and they said I wasn't a good enough person, or at least not servicey enough. I suppose the other schools had similar thoughts!

Well, it all ended well, that's all that matters. At least now when you're putting together your CV for residency you have some idea of how to approach the future via your post-mortem findings -- at least there's a silver lining.

I interviewed there thinking it would be my safe school, surprisingly I liked the program a lot: I was surprised to find out they were a teaching hospital for many years before deciding to start up their own program. I believe they booted the other medical students from their luxurious teaching hospital to make room for their students, much to the chagrin of others wanting to do their clerkship there. Though it'd take quite an attractive financial aid package to get me to give up my other acceptances.

Anyways, we're in!

Having worked with a neglected population (US inmates) I really wanted to find a program that emphasized serving their community. After all, medicine is a service based career.

I work with inmates also. I find it a very interesting group to work with. It's a lot like rural medicine, I think, because we are responsible for so much of their care, more than a typical primary care office would be. Congratulations! I'm sure you'll do great in med school.

That's great to hear! Working within prisons was a significant eye-opener to how complex society is, it felt like a very direct way to help my community as well.

Thanks!!!! Waiting to hear back from a couple more non-rolling schools, and interviewing at my state school later this month. Meanwhile dying to get my W-2s so I can fill out FAFSA and get an idea of my financial options. Could this process be any more drawn-out?
