I'm being serious, probably just really neurotic though. I'd been so worried about my GPA that I can't stop nit-picking all my stats. Thanks for the input though! Putting my mind a little more at ease.

sGPA = 3.44
MCAT = 28 (PS 11, V 8, BS 9)

In a graduate science program (gGPA currently 4.0)

Would I be considered an underdog if I submit my application in mid to late July? Is this considered late?

No, you're not going to be late nor will you be an underdog. You're a strong applicant.

Thank you for your advice, I will definitely retake the Mcat on August. Is there any other down side for me to apply before I retake it. Since my Mcat isn't high so I will only apply to my instate school and like 1 or 2 out of state Schools.

I would love to here your opinion!
 
This thread is seriously getting out of hand. Not trying to be a dick but if you have a 9/13/13 mcat with a gpa over 3.0 you are not an underdog. I mean come on. Instead of asking if you are an underdog use the last 2 years formula to figure it out for yourself. Mcat/2 + (gpa x 10). If you are under 46 then you are most likely an underdog. 35 mcat.... get outta here ya goofball!

If I retake an extra class or so over the Fall, it'll be over 3.0. Maybe a better chance and at least enough to get me automatically screened out. Plus planning on applying to SGU. Not my number one choice but we will see.

That's worse, a 3.0 in December is just awful. Just go and apply early and hope for the best. Also burn your SGU application.

I'm applying selectively. Lecom is my first choice. But I realize this year may not be my year. Still, maybe ill get lucky and get interviewed and get in. But even I doubt it.

As far as SGU, I didn't think applying there would be a big problem. They are still posting decent match results but are very expensive.

MCAT: 27 (8/10/9)
LOTS of W's and retakes; without retakes, my sGPA would be below 3

Right, except those match lists are prior to the crunch. When the crunch happens these programs are going to be screwed.

Cgpa is average, Sgpa is a bit below average, Mcat is a bit above average. Overall you're not really underdogging.

Perhaps you are right. I don't subscribe to the "sky is falling" view on the future but I don't accept that everything will be just ducky and every IMG will match. SGU has a solid reputation and graduates will be among the IMGs that do find residency spots, along with Ross grads most likely. The lesser known schools and the like will be much harder pressed. Notice I am saying graduates will match, not that they will match into anything even semi-competitive (think EM).

It's likely not going to be the worst case scenario, but chances are it'll be harsh on the Carib.

go search through docespana's posts. He is an expert on SGU (and other carib schools) and its deceptive advertising (example- behind the scenes rule at the school that you must be in the top 1/2 of your class to sit for USMLE- if not, they make you repeat a year).

I'd imagine a MS in HS is an SMP. So I'd go ahead and say that you're in the clear.

Their secondary is far from automatic and they will screen you beforehand. I applied anyway because I love KC, but they rejected me before the secondary. Generally, the rule seems to be that having 2/3 of their stat minimums will get you a secondary. I only had one (MCAT score).

On the other hand, I had two of their three stat minimums (MCAT and cGPA) and I got a secondary followed by a rejection that came so fast I wondered if they had even looked at my secondary. Oh well, I had a fee waiver so it was no waste of money for me.

You may be an underdog in light of your stats. But your publications are impressive.

I posted the range for what it would be to be an underdog per that mcat range. Obviously it's just a hypothetical to what I think is a fair range save for something like a 6 subscore.
 
What if someone has a 3.1cGPA and 3.5sGPA...Will these algorithms hold?
 
Was my underdog status revoked? My sGPA went from a 2.95 to 3.01 when they unexpectedly accepted two of my research credits as science.

Current: 3.0 sGPA 3.2 cGPA 34Q current ER tech. sounds all well and good buuuut...

I also had to disclose my honor council hearing for violating the campus drug policy multiple times through my reefer madness

For what it's worth, I had a significant upward trend since then, but it was only 2.5 years ago as a junior UG 😱
 
You gonna have to report those drug offenses? If so, even a 34 might leave you hanging combined with a 3.0cGPA

3.2 cGPA. It's the science one that's 3.0.

'Do I have to admit it?' Aren't those the instructions? Since this was an honor council hearing, pretty sure that qualifies as something I'd have to disclose.

I'm hearing mixed reviews on it. Some people say it isn't uncommon and won't make a huge difference, and other people take a more grim view
