That's just simply not true. Please do some more research before applying Caribbean.
 
I guess I feel pretty discouraged looking at a lot of the posts here... my MCAT is 23 right now and I applied to most DO schools. It seems like 23's don't get in (my sGPA: 3.55, cGPA: 3.68).

A lot of DO schools I applied were based on the surroundings because I am married and I have to go to a place where my wife can at least find a job. (She's a nurse).

So in that sense, I guess I didn't really apply to some schools that are just in spontaneous areas.

On my AACOMAS, it still states that my application is "processing". I submitted AACOMAS primary applications about 1 week ago so I don't expect them to be done processing yet. Hopefully as soon as possible so that I can get some secondaries back to work with.

Hmm IMO, better score high on that MCAT.
If not, you will have a bad time with that MCAT score :T

I honestly think you have a shot at DO if you apply to low tier ones like ACOM, LMU-DCOM, CUSOM, VCOM-CC-VC, WCUCOM, LUCOM... Don't spend your money on schools that are 'mcat obsessed'.

The ones that get through and match are probably just as good as any other physician on average, but the key phrase here is the ones that get through.

Underdog here. Male. 26. Illinois resident. ~3.1 gpa. Mom's a DO so a lot of shadowing hours from her coworkers. Just got verified. Initial apps were ccom, azcom, , lecom-Erie, LMU, Marian, pikeville, and Alabama. Should i add more? 25 MCAT after retake (took twice). Wide variety of experiences. Any advice would be appreciated- past or present UD's. rooting for all of us this year!

3.42c / 3.35s / 34 MCAT
Graduated 4 years ago and was not really thinking med school.
Lots of unique EC's (athlete, volunteering...). Non-traditional. Have done research. Worked many science-related odd jobs. Going into my 3rd year working at a community college.

Anyone have any advice on MD schools that might be within my reach?

Thanks! I assume you mean because I asked for school suggestions? My state school is pretty competitive, probably my top choice.

I was feeling pretty confident about this cycle until I read all of the class of 2017 average stats. Holy crap. I thought I would be ok with a 26 mcat and a 3.25 gpa with a grad gpa of 3.65 but it's not looking like I will get a whole lot of love. I'm thinking about retaking the mcat in September... I really don't want to because I don't have much time to study (started a full time job as a medical scribe). I know I can score higher if I spend some time. Seems like most do entering classes are averaging around 3.5 and 26 and above mcat. I'm happy the gap between do and md stats is closing but yikes! Even the new schools are putting up impressive stats. It makes me wonder if the md schools have even higher mcats and gpas

Your gpa is stellar. Your mcat is low. Don't know if you are currently applying to medical school or what your situation is but I would submit and see what happens. If you are waitlisted or rejected, retake your mcat in January. You can apply to schools up to march/april and spots are open all the way up to july/august. With a gpa like that, I would spend every ounce of energy studying for the mcat to try and score a 27 or above. With your gpa and a 27+ mcat you are giving yourself a chance for md schools and pretty much any do school you want. Good luck

c.gpa 3.47 s.gpa 3.72 got my MCAT today...24 BS10 VR6 PS8 really feel down about my mcat

Verbal screwed me over big time too. I think they should make my BS score my VR score because BS was like several long verbal passages. Whatever. It only takes someone (just 1) to say sure why not?

Destroy the USMLE/COMLEX....screw statistics.

Were they URM? But yea, if you are URM you are fine.
 
Yes they were URM. I applied to many schools so now just waiting on verification.

Should I be working on possible secondaries while waiting?

Anyone know what chances I have to particular schools with these stats? I guess I rather not spend the secondary fee if I don't really have a chance, much like ALL of us.

Have any of you underdogs had interviews in previous cycles and been rejected? If so, did the school tell you why or if it was an interview flaw or a grade/stat/mcat issue? I'm just wondering what makes the difference between those who get in post-interview. Or if one is waitlisted, then what can help in that case.
