Two quick questions:

1) why do people always ask if a rejection/interview letter was generic or personalized?

2) why does it matter which one it was?

I think because if it was generic, they probably sent all at once, if it was personalized, more may be coming.

I think because if its generic it could mean that they sent out a mass email and so everyone who was rejected probably got it at once. Therefore if you haven't heard anything and you didn't get a generic email, you could still be in the running. Alternatively if its personalized to someone, you could possibly get a personalized one coming to you.

I know sites are not required to notify us if we don't receive an interview.... but do they not know we are fragile right now and trying to hold it together long enough to get through interviews??? And we would like to know how long that is exactly?

It's been a week and in other industries it would be acceptable to call and inquire as to whether we are still under consideration. I'm considering calling next week Tuesday just to put my mind at ease so I can stop constantly checking my email.

Message to APPIC folks - I know you've been improving this Phase II process over the years, but please, it takes them a very short amount of effort to send a "dear applicant" rejection email. Please make it mandatory.

Huge thank you to the sites who were courteous enough to send those "no longer under consideration" emails.

Did anyone else apply to the Ann Arbor VA? I was looking through the application guidelines from Phase I and they explicitly state that they do not conduct interviews but that they don't mind providing information regarding your standing in "general terms" which is pretty vague...

I applied there but haven't heard anything. I'm assuming they'll let us know at some point whether they're ranking us or not, since otherwise, we wouldn't know to rank them.

Also, I wanted to share that today I was able to help out a colleague's client in a huge way. It put things into perspective for me and helped me realize that the stress of the internship process is just not worth; I just wanted to share that with everyone!

My sentiments exactly. It is hard to stay in it to win it! I have heard from less than a 1/3 of the places I applied to...and most of them haven't been mentioned in the thread, which is a good sign....who knows.

Thanks! I just went back to re-check. Ohio University is listed on there, which I assumed was the Ohio University Counseling Center, but there is also a Ohio Psychology Internship participating in Phase II. They are listed separately on the unmatched list. So, I'm not sure....
