hoping someone out there in the interweb may know if Colorado is still inviting for interviews or if they have open slots (if they use Interview Broker). help a sister out
Idk if anyone answered your question, but they do have open slots 12/8, 12, 15 and 1/9. Not sure if still handing out invites.

anyone cancelling Case on 12/8?

There should be another round of invites in December or even January, based on past years....hoping this won't change this year
I was looking at last years thread and didn't see anything like that. I did get UTSW this month though.

Has anyone gotten invites from Georgetown? I've only heard of invites from MedStar Washington hospital which is apparently a separate program (affiliated with Georgetown) filled to the brim with IMGs...

Thanks catswym. I called them earlier today, and, I'm not sure if this is believable but they said the person who schedules interviews hasn't come in and they won't expect her for another week. So they can't schedule any interviews? What?
I just want to expand on my tufts issue in case anyone else experienced/is experiencing problems with this. It took me about a month to finally schedule a date with them. I emailed them as soon as I got the invite and then again a few days later and then a week later with no reply. I went back and forth between calling and emailing after that and was almost always told that they'd respond at the end of the day or the end of the week, but they never did. I don't think I was a pest. For instance, if they told me they'd email me on a certain day, I waited a few days to call back and ask what happened.

In the end, it took me a month to schedule a date. In retrospect, I wonder if I should've been demanding or forceful about it. But oh well.

Just withdrew my interview offer from Mt. Sinai in NY on 1/8.

rd31--thanks for posting that you withdrew from Mt. Sinai, maybe someone on this forum will get the interview spot.
Would you know if Mt. Sinai and NYU use Interview Broker, and if so, any spots open in Dec or Jan?
thanks in advance
(And best of luck in your interviews!)

Mt. Sinai does not use interview broker; it's all handled by the PC. I didn't apply to NYU.

I haven't heard back from a number of programs since applying, despite sending a follow-up e-mail. And I mean no rejection or invite or anything. I am aware that some programs don't send rejections, but is that becoming more commonplace? :confused:Should I assume at this point that I am not going to hear back from those other places (for academic scheduling purposes)?
btw, pat yourself on the back, since we're halfway through the year! ;)

Penuindude--I hear and feel your pain. I think you hit the nail on the head, some programs just don't get back to you, it has happened in years past as we look at last years threads. However, some programs still have some slots open and others will work off a waitlist or just invite people late in the cycle to fill the slots as candidates vacate spots. So is there a chance you will get more interviews? Yes. However, I think the chances are slim, but don't lose hope. Remember, it is also a numbers game for each program. A program director knows they have to invite a certain number, get a certain number of interviews, and then rank their list. I did read in the 2014 NMRP bulletin that on "average" a program needs to rank 10 to fill 1 slot. (This is an average, some programs need more, others less). I hope you have applied broadly and have many interviews. Good luck.

Someone asked me where I got the above numbers, here is what I responded:

Check out this link:
http://www.nrmp.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/PD-Survey-Report-2014.pdf

Go to page 43, Figure IM-5

Number of positions = 18
Number of applicants received = 2,864
Number of interview invites sent = 309
Number of applicants interviewed = 251
Number of applicants ranked = 178

So if the average IM residency program has 18 positions, they rank 178 (close to 180), so that means 10 people ranked for every 1 spot. Hope this was helpful and let me know if you have any comments.

Anyone know how many interview days UC Davis has in January / if there are any openings on the calendar (I think they use interviewbroker?) I'm currently waitlisted for an interview and trying to gauge whether there's still a chance or not. Thanks!

Withdrew invite from U Colorado earlier. They have a couple dates in Jan with more than one spot available, best of luck to anyone waiting to hear from them

They don't have any more interview spot available.

Does anyone know if there are any interviews open for Vanderbilt in January?

This varies according to how competitive a particular program is, and I think knowing that "average" number may not really be helpful. In other specialties it is just worse. I know of an ER program with 16 positions that ranks 20 applicants. Hardly ever do they get someone past number 16. Scary.

More dates just opened up for UC Davis, last interview date is Feb 5 2015.

That's why they are called "averages" in the NMRP document.

"Ever do they get someone past 16".......how could you possibly know this information?

My point is that the information about the "averages" is useless. A program may rank 50 applicants per position, another one may rank 2 per position. What matters is the competitiveness of the specific programs, not the national average. As far as the specific ED program I happened to mention... I would let you guess how "I could possibly know". Or you can just believe that I made it up if you want.

Well, it might be useless to you and you are entitled to your opinion, however, NMRP must publish this and other statistics for a reason. If they are just spinning their wheels then why send out over 300 surveys to PD's to collect this information?

Any interviews still available for UTSW? I believe a few days ago someone posted that there were a few open spots. But just wondering about the status now. Was told by their PC that I was waitlisted for a spot and that there were no longer any spots open, but never received an interview broker link.

Thanks in advance!!

From what I can see in Interview Broker there aren't any spots on the 16th but there are more than one spot on Jan 9.

Word of caution for those asking about open dates in interview broker. For applicants who already have an interview some days may appear "open" if their date was wait listed by someone else with an interview. For example if my interview day was Jan 14, even if all interview invites have been sent and all dates are taken, but someone on Jan 7 wait listed the 14th it may appear to me that the 7 has open dates.

I may have misunderstood what you wrote, or perhaps you're pointing out an error in the system, but this shouldn't be true. If an applicant schedules an interview on one date and also joins the waitlist for another, should the waitlisted date become available, the applicant will immediately secure the open spot on the waitlisted date and also forfeit the date for which he or she was previously scheduled. An applicant cannot be scheduled on two separate dates for the same program on Interview Broker, nor may an applicant be on a waitlist for a date listed as open--there are no waitlists for open dates.

From what I can see in Interview Broker there aren't any spots on the 16th but there are more than one spot on Jan 9.

That's reassuring news I guess, really hoping I get one. Would be so thrilled Thanks for checking!!

Hmm that's a really interestingn point I can definitely imagine that happening, especially to motivate people to swap dates. Do u know if that's true for sure? I actually read through the interview broker FAQ for managers just now but didn't see anything that supported this claim. I did, however, learn that those one line questions at the bottom cost $.25 per question per applicant... Banking it!

I've also been "waitlisted" by UTSW for the last 2 or so months I think, after I emailed them inquiring about status. Obviously I'm still hoping, but with basically two interview dates left (23rd is for their own students?) I'm starting to think that it's just a courtesy reject :(

Yes I'm not saying that the applicant has two dates. So if I have secured a spot on January 7 that is the only date I am scheduled. If someone who has a secured spot on January 14, sees that January 7 is totally full and wait lists it, when I(a person with January 7) looks at interview broker I will see an "available" spot for the 14 since if I choose to reschedule the person wait listed for the 7th will be swapped with me. No one has two scheduled spots just one.

Just using past experience. Earlier in this thread (or may in prog specific questions can't remember) someone missed the opportunity to schedule an interview with Cornell. Those with established dates could see multiple "openings", the person without an opening could not. When I rescheduled my interview, right after doing so many openings that I could previously see were gone. Also some of the openings I would post were available and another person posted were slightly different. So that's how I came to my conclusion. Of course it's not 100% verified but made sense to me

Just canceled GW...hope someone else gets the spot

Does anyone that interviewed at maimonides categorical know what time the interview starts? I switched from a prelim day to a categorical day but never got an updated itinerary.
