milski, how're you doing? You're not hiding any good news from us, are you?
I also want to know this.milski, how're you doing? You're not hiding any good news from us, are you?
No, I'm not, unless I can hold to the "no news is good news" mantra. 😀 Which does get shakier by the day. On the bright side, I have received only one rejection this year. Waiting for 11 more schools, from which I've heard nothing. Some of them are well known silent rejectors which were reach for me anyway, some are state schools which should be a fit for me.milski, how're you doing? H'm. I'd say it should pick up now that it's January. Nothing from Minnesota? No, I'm not, unless I can hold to the "no news is good news" mantra. 😀 Which does get shakier by the day. Eventually I need to get the rest of the decisions, so I do agree with that. 😀HM. It

Not fair, the people around you are getting more entertainment out of this than me. 😛OK milski, I'm crossing the parts of my body, which were not already crossed for a couple of my schools, for you. You should see the configuration my body is in now!
But seriously, I'm rooting for ya.
Do I detect sarcasm? 🙂 At this point, I assume silent rejections/don't care about schools I haven't heard from and haven't withdrawn from (yet).
All's well that ends well. You already have an acceptance to a good school and can get more acceptances from the interviews you've already attended - who cares about AECOM, right?
I'm sure there are nice supportive people applying every year; plus, we're not going anywhere from SDN - but I haven't given up rooting for you anyway 😉A big part of why I'd hate to have to reapply is losing you as peers to hang out with.
Yeah, I guess I'll stick around for milski.no one else though. Maybe wholeheartedly.I'm sure there are nice supportive people applying every year; plus, we're not going anywhere from SDN - but I haven't given up rooting for you anyway 😉
+1wholeheartedly.

I'm pretty sure the class of 2018 is the last hope for humanity. Some robot with a hologram told me. Something about "you're our only hope" and "quenobee".

could have sworn i heard "quinoa"
oh and hi milksi 😀
Who, me? 😀 I agree with just anything, I am in a pretty good position for the next year and this time I will be the first to click that submit button on AAMCAS.I still think you'll be contacted before this cycle ends, but if not, you're actually in a pretty good situation. Your grades and mcat are superb, you have a good background story and your only known weaknesses are already being actively addressed. Keep sticking with the EC's and you'll be sitting pretty this time next year, maybe even in 10 months and two days from now. Plus, you're in Texas right? Geezus 😀
No worries, after all, I have been to Texas, for about two days. So you are not 100% wrong on that one. 😉Sorry, no idea where I got that from. Yeah it does make things slightly more complicated but you're still fine if it comes to it 😛

We can agree on a compromise: some of us will graduate in 2019, so we can apply to residencies together with next year's medical school applicants 😉You are all very convincing. I think at this point we all agree that the best course of action is just to re-apply next year, so that you can join wholeheartedly & me? 😛
I think most people get rejected from at least some, if not all, of their top choices - and you have already interviewed at at least one of your top choices! In any case, I love your attitude.Rejected from one of my top choices today, pre-interview. But also had an interview a few days ago at another top choice, and absolutely loved it. I've also decided to withdraw from the other schools I haven't heard from yet, thereby ending my interview season.![]()
😀
How about some people who love studying so much they take an extra year of medical school and graduate in 2019? 😉
I'm actually not targeting any of the ultracompetitive specialties (well, at least that's what I think now), but I'm interested in academic medicine, so doing an extra year of research/clinical training in medical school makes sense for me.
I must have missed it, but you must have an acceptance if you are withdrawing from schools!Moar news: II to NYCOM. Withdrew because they're not 90k (YA RLY) per year cool.
On the plus side, with this II I reached the number of interviews I was hoping for, so I call this a win.
Too bad about the rejection but congratulations on being over with the interviews!Rejected from one of my top choices today, pre-interview. Midichlorians? The ones despised almost as much as Jar Jar Binks? 😛The Inca prized it above other grains for its high midi-chlorian content.
As long as there is a decrease in the overall number of BS essays that I have to write, I think I can handle it. Eventually, I'll be old enough and senile enough not to remember the previous application anyway. 🙂We can agree on a compromise: some of us will graduate in 2019, so we can apply to residencies together with next year's medical school applicants 😉
Speaking of which... can you imagine having to go through this AGAIN??? (and again, and again if you consider fellowships and attending positions)
👍 That's the attitudeEventually, I'll be old enough and senile enough not to remember the previous application anyway. 🙂
Sooner than you expect.👍 That's the attitude
Speaking of growing old, I wonder when does the time starts when I don't hate getting up early anymore?
I must have missed it, but you must have an acceptance if you are withdrawing from schools!
that doesn't make much sense to me... but then, you are very small.Sooner than you expect. But you will grow a new fondness of afternoon naps. 😉
It will, wait for a few more years. 😛that doesn't make much sense to me... but then, you are very small.
Awesome, congratulations!Just scored a non-resident tuition waiver at Minnesota! Thrilled and incredibly honored right now
Congrats. Perhaps we'll bump into each other at some point. Though,to be honest, I'd rather bump into you at CCLCM. LolJust scored a non-resident tuition waiver at Minnesota! Thrilled and incredibly honored right now
Congrats! Besides the reduction in tuition, it's nice to know that the school you love really loves you, too 🙂Just scored a non-resident tuition waiver at Minnesota! Thrilled and incredibly honored right now
Merit! I'm really quite flattered. I knew they gave these out but i couldn't count on one.Awesome, congratulations!
Is that merit based or did you have ties to the state?
Congrats. Perhaps we'll bump into each other at some point. Though,to be honest, I'd rather bump into you at CCLCM. Lol
Thanks. That really hits the nail on the head. Enforces the touchy feelies that i got on interview day 🙂Congrats! Besides the reduction in tuition, it's nice to know that the school you love really loves you, too 🙂
When I think about school selection, it seems like it ultimately comes down to touchy feelis for me, too... now, all I need is to get accepted there 😀
But seriously, I do believe in intuition or that thing Malcolm Gladwell described in Blink; not as some mystical phenomenon, but rather some kind of a background cognitive process that makes a decision for you before you even realize it.

That absolutely begs for a "Dear School, in my experience, successful schools are known for ... Good luck in your future evaluations." letter. 😉I'm also waiting for my W-2s... not that I have to make a choice between schools, at least not at the moment, but I just want to get this out of my way.
Meanwhile, I just got rejected by a school from which I withdrew 2 months ago (and actually received an acknowledgement of my withdrawal from the Dean personally). And to top that, this was the most condescending rejection letter I received, something along the lines of "in my experience, reapplicants are more successful when..." - I'm not kidding. Hey, medical school X, I rejected you before you rejected me and I did that precisely because I got accepted by a school I liked more!

Not quite the same but someone told me to do this for a few residency programs I am torn between
They said to write the programs name on a piece of paper for each one the place them all in a hat. Then have someone else who knows you really well pick a piece of paper at random and read the name to you. Your own emotions at that time as well as the other persons judgment of your reaction can help you differentiate between one and two.
Hth
Well, I'm kinda sorta trying to play nice, so I won't name the school 😉UTHSCSA?
Congrats on the paper! Very high impact, huh? I'm kind of jealous 🙂 It'll make a nice update for those non-rolling schools.Well, today was a weird day. Waitlisted at yet another school (sigh) but we had a paper accepted at a very high-impact journal. I think I'm happier about the paper than I am sad about the waitlist, so I'll count this as a win.
....the wait until March for the non-rolling schools is still killing me, though.
