2015-2016 APPIC Internship Interview Thread

How unprofessional would it be to have confirmed with a local site for an interview and then to ask if it could be moved earlier, since I have other sites I would like to schedule as well.

I interviewed at said site last year and didn't match. They already expressed I don't have to interview again since I went through the process last year. Still, I'd want to.

Just seems incredibly rude to me, but this is how the internship process is designed I guess.

I did that. It happens, and local sites are easier for you to flex your time around. It was well received and I'm looking forward to going out there to interview.

Same boat here. Got 6 sites left to hear from and most of them are sites I am excited for. Living in the experience of at any moment they could contact me but so far no one here has heard from them yet is not a lot of fun.
 
I too thought this week would be full of accepts/rejects, but I'm still waiting to hear back from 14 sites- most with deadlines of Dec. 15th. I'm starting to feel like maybe there were some issues with my APPI delivery (I know, I know- not likely, but hear me out). I have several sites who have deadlines this week and I have yet to hear from them. Also, some deadlines have passed with no notice AND some of these sites have sent out both invites and rejections per the running offers list on here. Anyone else experiencing similar things??

Deadline yesterday- 12/9- no notification; site made offers and sent rejections to others (email sent, but no response yet)
Deadline today (12/10)- no notification yet
Deadline tomorrow (12/12) x2-; no notification yet; 1 site made offers earlier this week, 1 has not been listed on here at all yet

The anxiety is real over here.

Is there anyone out there who would be willing to call Harvard/McLean and ask if all invitations have gone out?

I don't want to call and risk being marked as the annoying/neurotic applicant, and I'm guessing other applicants feel similarly. 😛 If a non-applicant could call and post their answer, that would let us all save face while having a better idea of what to expect.

Any takers? Phone number is 617.855.2328. I would also be very happy to return the favor and call a site to ask for a status update!

FWIW, I got my invite from them two years ago on Dec 11.

I also got one like this, Denver Health with three interview dates in Jan.

I just heard back from App State via email with a rejection notification. They didn't provide any rationale for the tardiness so I can only assume they did receive my application, but I somehow got left off the original rejection list. Hope others who are still waiting have a better outcome!

Got another invite today. It helps! Thanks, guys, for this thread and being supportive while we all engage this emotional roller coaster. I noticed from last year's thread that a lot of people got invites even after Dec 15th, so keep checking those inboxes!

That's what I'm assuming from the rejection I received back too. Either that or our apps all got misplaced and they don't have room for more interviews 😵

Ya, same boat. Still got 13 left to hear from. Trying hard to resist hitting refresh on my email every chance I get. lol

I just received a personal e-mail invite for Albany Consortium. On the main page it says mass. Just wanted to give some hope to others who haven't heard from them!

They sent me a rejection today. I'm kind of surprised actually.
 
anyone heard from Portland VA? In previous years they sent an early email letting people know that they passed the first cut. I have't seen anything about them this year yet...
 
I'm sure this has already been addressed but to reduce me scrolling back thru 18 pages, if you see a site has sent out rejection notifications, but you haven't heard from them - should you consider that maybe you got an interview but they haven't offered it yet? They're not on the Interview notification list yet...

Normally I'd say yes, but app state rejected me today in almost the same situation. I hope the best for you though 🙂

Any attempt to formulate a 'one size fits all' model is going to based on guesses on our behalf (and poorly educated ones at that). I would just rest comfortable on what you do have and stay open that those you have not may be rejections, or may not be.

I agree with others said. If you haven't heard, you just can't assume either way.

I'm sorry to hear about your rejection 🙁 Seems like we all suffered the same fate, tho I was less surprised because my fit was a bit of a stretch. Wishing you luck with the rest of 'em!

So I inquired. The response I got back was that they were flexible, suggested that since they know me (last year/local program/school wise), I really didn't have to interview again (option).

But the email reflected that fit wise, I might not be a good candidate for the site. Not directly stated, but it felt that way.

Should I just go ahead and not push for the interview? Seems like they would rank me low and I would do the same now.

Why would they have invited you for an interview at all if they didn't think you were a fit? Seems to me that if that were the case, they would not have given you an interview. No? Do you think you might be reading into the e-mail? I know I'm doing that with every communication I have with TDs right now.

I've heard that some sites will give past/present practicum students an interview as a courtesy, even if they don't anticipate ranking them.

That's messed up. If they want to extend a courtesy, they could respond to the application with a personal and clear explanation of why the applicant might not be a good fit for internship, even if they were excellent as a practicum student.

I totally agree with you. I imagine not all sites are like this.
