2016-2017 Universidad Central del Caribe Application Thread

In one of the MMI stations, I did not understand what my interviewer was saying (in Spanish), so I gave a random answer that really did not make any sense.

I was about to ask if you speak spanish? I would truly tell them my spanish is not that great so ask me in English

That would defeat the purpose of having an interview station in Spanish; which, to my understanding, is to simulate a real life scenario where you're dealing with a patient that might only speak Spanish (as it can very well happen in PR). You might not always have the luxury of treating an English-speaking/bilingual patient, or having a translator to assist you.

Interviewing is different than a scenario where someone is committed and living in PR!

Since interviews are till the end of March, if I haven't been called for interview yet I won't be called at all, right?

I'm a reapplicant, I got interviewed last year. I was waitlisted and then rejected. This year UCC didn't call me for interview, I was just waitlisted.

How do you know if you were waitlisted? I have called on occasions to try and get info regarding my application, but I haven't gotten solid answers besides "Just wait for an email or call".

I was accepted on February 8th. Is there any Facebook page for 2021 class?

Does anyone know how much people are accepted at UCC right now or how many spaces are still available? I heard on my interview they only accept 70 per year.

Hi everyone! I'm an OOS and I'm hearing in the local news via Internet (from Puerto Rico with a friend who understands Spanish) and not to throw a wrench here, but is it true that the economic crisis in Puerto Rico is enough justification for a payment default from the local government to UCC Med School for services rendered at the Dr Ramon Ruiz Arnau University Hospital? I mean, we are talking about millions of $$ here. If this is true than the school could close its doors even before the next graduation next year. It would be a shame if this happens while I'm in there. Any thoughts?

Not entirely sure. But if there is a school that would be most impacted it would be UPR as it is federally and state funded. UCC is private though the hospital may be of public ownership. In that case, I am sure they would work out a deal with private hospitals. I know that they have ties to the VA system as well as other private ones. I could be wrong but SJB Hospital Menonita had a temporary loss of accreditation. When I interviewed there, we were told that it did not affect the school's performance, however, the perception of the school was. It would also be morally responsible for them to notify us of any potential loss of accreditation before matriculating.

[OOS-waitlisted at UCC] Anyone know when orientation, registration, first day of classes is?
