I totally get it. When I got my first rejection, it was annoying to think that the whole cycle would go that way, but later on, the good news made it better (to the point where it no longer phased me; I was just mad that I wasted the money, haha). Keep breathing and keep going; I pray your load of IIs comes very soon!Long time lurker. Wanted to say congrats to everyone on the IIs!!!
I was verified on August 3rd and was complete at majority of the schools by august 6th.
Know its too early to be stressed about having not heard anything about IIs but I'm just getting ansy because already got 1 rejection and am worried about how my stats are being interpreted.
Just gotta get out of my own head

It's definitely too early to worry, especially based on your completion date. We're all going to get rejected at some point, so it's best to start getting used to the possibility. I'm not one to talk because I'm the most neurotic and anxious person here. I'm sure others on this thread can attest to that LOL. Just sit tight, and the interviews will come. I would only start to worry if you don't hear anything by November.☺

PREEEAAAACCCHHH!I thought I was neurotic until I subscribed to the school threads. I foolishly thought it would be a good thing to participate in through the cycle, but I soon realized it's a circle of neuroticism endlessly feeding off of each other, with a dash of interrogation lol.

I feel your pain. Every time I try to put myself on a one week ban from school-specific threads, I find myself back there 2 seconds later. It's like a black hole that keeps sucking me back in. I didn't realize just how inadequate I could feel until I joined SDN. It is what it is, I guess.
Don't put stock in anything on there. I noticed the same people in all the threads saying omg I'm so worried with my 4.0/528, just looking for a pat on the back.
There is almost no value in following them except to keep up to date on the stages of the process but even that is borderline useless because no school reviews linearly so your road isn't anyone else's.
You've been having an amazing cycle already, don't dampen that with comparisons!

Amen! And the church say, Amen. Legit almost had a full blown panic attack because I was seeing people getting interviews after my submission date. Can't do it anymore. nope.
Just got officially summoned to jury duty in the middle of this app cycle and quite sure "applying to med school" isn't seen as an extreme hardship. This couldn't have happened at the worst possible time. lol But seriously.
Instead of sending "in the area emails to schools" I'll be sending "please give me an interview before October because I'll be on jury duty" wonder how that's going to be perceived![]()
How is everyone preparing for interviews? I am grateful that I have received early interviews, but at the same time I am scared out of my mind.
I have a book that includes 2-3 (small) pages for each school. I include the mission statement, what I stressed in my secondary, how that relates to the mission statement and what in my primary is fitting.
Then I am writing notes on the curriculum and what opportunities are available that I am interested in. I plan to skim past reviews/questions on SDN a few days prior (my first is next week).
Wow nice! I am doing something similar. I have a page of notes on the curriculum, mission, and opportunities at each school in addition to a PDF of each secondary in a school specific folder. I have been reading over my primary application and making sure I know my research.
I guess it is all about relating to each school and matching experiences to those schools like you said. What I am having trouble with is that for some schools what is unique to them is offered at other schools, which makes answering "why this school" difficult.
All the best on your first interview this week! My first is in about 3 weeks and so I figured now would be the best time to start preparing.

So very rarely is anything truly unique but try to find out how they execute it and how the culture/mood of the student body will contribute to or bolster that aspect of the school.
Location can also make a certain offering more beneficial than it would be somewhere else.
Congratulations on your IIs so far. Trust me, I have that same fear of failure, myself.
What I'm doing first of all is to write down various scenerios from work, school, ECs, personal experiences, etc. and what type of interview questions they would be great answers for. These include, teamwork, leadership/initiative, problem solving, conflict resolution, overcoming a challenge/failure. This is because behavior-based questions are popular from my experience. I also prepped answers for the usual (why medicine, why you, why physician vs. nurse, where do you see yourself X years from now).
I then looked carefully through the school websites and wrote down questions to ask for which the answers were not on the website. I also have a generic list of questions that apply to all schools.
For MMI, I read literature discussing various ethical situations. I don't know how helpful this is, but I figure it is a good way to learn how to think critically and examin different view points when coming to a conclusion.
I hope that helps.🙂
Well looking up flights and accommodations for an interview at Tufts really knocks the wind out of you.
I definitely got a dose of the side eye from my father... even AirBnB was insane.
PREAACCHH. I called some hotels like "hey hi hello do you have any discounts for the poor med school applicant plz." She laughed very nicely. 🤔
Here's to hoping for a new week filled with "The Admissions Committee is pleased to invite ..."emails!! More for the superstars with many, and firsts for those that haven't heard back yet.![]()

I did a mock interview with my pre-health adviser and that was really helpful. I highly recommend with practicing someone you trust who can give you honest feedback on everything from the content of your answers to your body language. Thanks for your insight!
Thank you and congratulations to all of your interview invites. You are killing it!
What you said above makes a lot of sense. It seems as though you are anticipating certain interview questions by providing examples from your experiences that would be better suited to answer those questions.
Forgot about the questions to ask at the end part. I will keep that in mind and try to find school specific and generic questions to ask.
My first interview is an MMI and I have no idea how to practice for that, but reviewing ethics seems like a good idea. Otherwise I have heard you can't really practice for that.
Thanks again for your help and all the best on your upcoming interviews!

If you can, try to do some mock interviews. At my school, the career development office allowed students to sign up for mock interviews. I did two of them and it was really helpful to highlight my interviewing deficits.
Also be knowledgeable about current events in general. I once got asked what I thought the biggest issue in America was (outside of medicine).
That is a great idea. I will try to schedule a mock interview with my pre-health advisor. Thanks!
I am curious as to how you responded to that one...I would've said the presidential election, but I guess the major news stories last year were probably different. Was told to avoid politics at interviews. There is Zika, the olympics, etc.
EDIT: Or gun control/mass shootings/police brutality
All the best to everyone who has interviews this week!
Yay! This is quickly becoming my favourite thread!!! I pray you crush it!Tulane interview invite!

Clutch game on point.... I don't know why I said that... I'm a guy
Congratulations!First of the season, II invite to NYU!!
Also congrats to everybody so far, you guys are truly killing it!
You might have a better shot at a good answer in the pre-allo what are my chances thread... @Goro @gyngyn and many others can help you out. It's getting kinda late in the season but I don't know not an expert by any stretch. Post there(3.88, Bio Major, 500 MCAT, URM , 150 HRS of volunteering & 160 Hours of internship in ER, College Football player& captain)
Just got my MCAT score & I know it isn't great by any means and my ECs could be better, so i'm freaking out a little. Already submitted Primary App. Does anyone think I have a shot of getting in an M.D school? If so, any suggestions on where to apply?
