Casual! Jeans and a nice shirt are fine. It's more of a chat with current students with pizza involved lol

I agree with what abc1014 said, my student host and I went to it together and she was wearing sweatpants and a hoodie. I just had on jeans and a tshirt, there's definitely no dress code to worry about!
 
For those of you who received the phone call on Saturday/Sunday, has anyone been able to log into the portal and see the updated decision yet?

Yes mine was available Saturday night, and I was accepted on Saturday afternoon.

Do we think more calls are coming today? Or is that it until February?
 
I just called the admissions office and was told that quite a few people have called in with the same question, so for you guys who are checking this board to see if you're the only one, you're not haha. I was told that there's a number of people whose portal hasn't updated yet and that it should update by the end of the day today. She also said that if we received the phone call, we have truly been accepted (lol), and that we can email the admissions office for a written confirmation in the meantime as we wait for the portal to update.
 
Has anyone called to see if all acceptances have been given out?

Edit: From admissions: there are a few more offers to give today, but most likely if we haven't heard yet, the committee has decided to defer our decisions until the next acceptance day in February. Good luck guys 🙂 hopefully there is good news to come.

Did the person say how many acceptances had been offered at this time?

Objectively I know it's real, but it's still so nerve-inducing to not see the portal updated. Glad to know it's more than just one or two of us!

At my interview in early December, staff told us that # of acceptances given in December and February will be proportionate to # of people interviewed. More people will be accepted in December because more people interviewed from Aug to Dec than Dec - Feb.
 
Did anyone get accepted who interviewed on or after November 18th? Just trying to figure out if I was deferred or if they haven't looked at my application.

Edit: Also, if you get deferred can you still get straight accepted? I looked through some of the previous year's threads and I couldn't find anyone who did. Getting a little bit nervous...

I interviewed Nov 18 so I guess it is possible.

I interviewed 11/17-18 for the MIDP and MD programs. Absolutely in love with this school and Nashville. Waitlisted on 12/19 - fingers crossed! 🙂

Hey, I interviewed 11/18, waitlisted 12/19, but I suspect that might have been just for the MIDP. I think no news is good news 🙂 good luck!

Well... It looks like a wave of rejections has come through. Notified through the portal today that there is no space in Vandy's class for me. Best of luck everyone!

Can anyone familiar with Vanderbilt comment on how close the class is outside the classroom? I noticed lot of the students were non-trad (nothing wrong with that!) but I know this means many will have families and be extremely busy. Also, in terms of Nashville and TN, would I have to worry about being a minority(Indian)? Everyone at the interview day said Nashville was pretty inclusive/diverse but would love to hear some other opinions.

Current VMS1 here, I would say the class is quite close. It helps that most of us live within walking distance of the school/eachother so it makes it pretty easy to set up get-togethers quickly (or just get a bite to eat after class!). Also maybe you just met a lot of non-trads on your interview day but I'd say 50% of the class is straight through, 25% took a year or two off, and the rest are truly non-traditional.

I won't pretend that Nashville is as diverse as NYC or LA but I'm a minority too (Asian) and have loved it here so far! I was worried about moving to "the South" at first but Nashville truly is a cosmopolitan city and getting bigger and more vibrant every day.

Does anyone know if those passed up during the December round are expected to send suck-up letters-- er, i mean update letters-- prior to the February decisions?

fwiw i posted earlier about two friends of mine who got in with feb batch, interviewed on first day possible, with no update letters

On the interview day, we were told Nashville has a pretty size able refugee population - didn't expect that

I am interviewing here next week and, to be honest, I am a little nervous. For those of you who have interviewed, do you have any tips? I am especially interested in the closed file short interview. What kinds of questions do they ask? Is it essentially an unadulterated first impression? Do they pretty much say "tell me about yourself?" It is those types of open ended questions that I am a little worried about because I feel like I ramble when I don't have a topic. As for the open file interview, did anyone have any experience with particularly tough questions? Any help would be appreciated, thank you so much!

And, as always (despite our horrendous flop against Clemson), Go Bucks!

The closed file quesitons are pretty situational. No way to prepare really. Open file was very straightforward "tell me about XX activity". Pretty chill interview day. Good luck

I'd agree. The closed file interview questions are sort of a grab bag, I'd look at the SDN interview feedback to get an idea of what to expect. As for the open file, I'd say that my Vandy interview more so than other schools really focused on the things that I wrote about in my primary and secondary applications. I was asked to elaborate on my activities and get into specifics about the kinds of things that I did/what I learned. My interviewer informed me that part of the reason for the open file interview was to answer questions that the admissions committee had about your application in particular. I'd prepare by really knowing your application well and by being prepared to describe in detail the activities that you wrote about.
 
Do we know when February decisions go out?
