Wow so we have a really good shot it seems. I wonder if that includes people accepted off the waitlist?https://www.reddit.com/r/premed/comments/4zjzpj/i_got_access_to_the_us_news_and_world_report_with/
Ctrl f to find Vanderbilt.
498 interviews -> 301 acceptances -> 90 enrolled.
I can't verify the source, and I'm assuming it's for last year because 88 is the current MD cap.

hot chicken vs clam chowder. Let that marinate in your brain.Interviewing Monday here. I interviewed at Harvard a few weeks ago, and coming back to research Vanderbilt again, I am struck by how similar the curricula of these two schools appear. Can anybody speak to differences in the curricula/school philosophy/feel of the school?
Thanks!

One big difference is having 3 clinical years at Vandy.

As opposed to most, I actually like the cold, so on that front Harvard (and good chowder) might be better. Especially is Nashville is anything like, say, Huntsville, AL. Don't know if I'd live through the muggy, hellish summer...
That's what they have at Harvard now, too. It seems VERY similar. 1 year preclinical, 1 year required clinicals, step, 2 years electives, required research for a few months at the end.

Thank you so much for the link! Appreciate it.Personally, I really like their emphasis on student wellness. Check out this paper for some more info about their wellness philosophy!

Also, do they do any class ranking? As I recall, preclinical is P/F, but clinical wasn't, so I was curious if they ranked or did AΩA.
Hey Neuroguy, current VMS1 here again. I can't speak for Harvard but this is the 4th year of Vandy's 1 year preclinical curriculum so there's been a lot of time for all the kinks to get worked out. If a 1 year curriculum would be too difficult or stressful was one of my worries before I chose Vandy, but it was nice to know I wouldn't be one of the first classes to go through it.
On the P/F front, the first two years (pre-clinical and clerkships) are P/F and unranked. After that you get into your immersions/electives and those are graded. However, there is still no ranking but there is AOA (which I think is decided by your peers and professors).
Feel free to post or PM any other questions you guys have!
So, will they outright deny anyone later this month? Or does everyone just go straight to the wait list?
Awesome thanks. You would assume they only interview people they would want to actually go to the school seeing as the vetting process is so stringent pre-interview.From what I was told by one of the admissions staff, everyone pretty much goes to the waitlist.
Next week is unofficially "mid Feb". Let the countdown to disappointment and self doubt begin!
you're going to ask formore than 75% scholarship? Wow such balls muy cajonesIs it appropriate to contact a school to see if they will match a competing scholarship?
I really liked Vanderbilt and they offered me a 75% scholarship, but I'm not sure I can justify going there at the cost of $50,000. I've gotten two full tuition scholarships from arguably (U.S. News) higher ranked schools, but I didn't like them as much. When would be the best time to approach them about this be?
For real. This guy f****.you're going to ask formore than 75% scholarship? Wow such balls muy cajones
Today would be cool 🙂What day we thinking folks?
Last year it came out on a Friday, I think the 19th...so maybe this Friday?
So I guess It's not happening today?
Your name describes us all hahaanybody feel like calling?
Hahaha I never would have read that. Looks like the day is coming to an end.Your name describes us all haha
Has to be this week...Today would be good...
I called today and they said that they "don't know when calls will go out bc it depends on when the admissions committee makes their decisions". I think this means that we've got a long wait ahead of us folks.
