Just got my second post-interview rejection. 🙁
So far I only received waitlist/deferred decision/rejection post-interview. 🙁

I'm very sorry to hear that. That sounds very difficult. Hang in there.
 
Had a pair of rejections drop today. I can't say that either were particularly unexpected, but it never feels good. I'm getting close to the point where the list of rejections will surpass the list of schools I'm still waiting to hear back from. I'm definitely trying to keep a good attitude about it, especially around my wife who has been super supportive through the entire career change path I've been on, but it can be difficult to not get discouraged at times.

I've had two II so far and I try to focus on them. Pretty much any medical school would be amazing to me, but the two I've gotten II from do feel like a special fit. I sure hope one comes through.

Keep your head up everyone who is waiting. Despite what some forum threads will tell us, there still is a fair chunk of time on the clock. (Sometimes that fact is hard to remember and internalize.)

Holy ****, just got an II for OHSU! I hope that non trad coalition is still dominating this cycle. I've been working two jobs, trying to pay my 10K + on fees and traveling expenses. Therefore I don't open my CPU that much at all or either have energy to do so. I do browse over my phone here there.

Around 30 ( lost track at this point) *+ two transcontinental trips in the US ( I live in Hawaii ) to attend 5 interviews . It adds up flights hotels and etc...

BUT ALL WORTH IT 😉

Continued at Pritzker 🙁 really bummed right now. I didn't expect to get in but I also didn't expect to wake up to that email today since decisions were supposed to go out Monday 🙁

Sorry 🙁 I'm with you on the negative train 🙁

Got waitlisted today and feeling down. I've only gotten (somewhat) negative feedback post-interview (1 silence for more than 3 months, 1 waitlist). Confidence is not high right now but I'm trying to stay positive

Sorry to hear that 🙁 hopefully that train will turn around for you very soon!
I can't complain as much, though the one school I did get into is in the city my husband really doesn't want to move to, so that's unfortunate.
 
Email just now with subject "You've waited all year for this!". I open it up, irrationally hoping that it is an interview invite to my #1 hoped-for school, who has sadly ignored me so far. Instead, it's just an ad from a local car company, with an offer for new low prices on a brand new car. Seriously? Ugh. Not only have I not "waited all year for this", but I can hardly afford ramen after this interview season, much less a new car. Hopes inflated and then dashed all within a few seconds. Back to the grind of trying to research but getting distracted by every ping of my email client. Has it really only been 7 months since these applications were submitted? Feels longer. A lot longer.

Aww really? Sorry to hear about Pritzker. Boston is great, though! I'm not a fan of the winter here, but if you like snow then that is great too. Feel free to PM me if you want help convincing your husband that he would like it here. 🙂

He's never even been to Boston, but he is a West coast guy, and apparently that means the entire East coast sucks. He'll come with me if Tufts is the only school I get into, so there's at least that 😛
I really liked Boston when I was there for my interview. They have great food.
What else do you like in and around Boston?

The metro area has more colleges and universities than I can remember, so there are lots and lots of intelligent people in their 20s and 30s.
If you like technology, there is a very strong "maker" community, with public workshops where you can build things or learn how to do so.
Tons of biotech and defense jobs in the area, if your husband is interested in either of those.
If you like nature, then there are gorgeous rocky coastlines just north of the city, hiking trails in the hills within the metro area, and major hiking and skiing areas within a few hours' drive.
If you like nightlife, Boston gets plenty of acts that play in larger cities, but here they often play in smaller venues, which can be nice. Small negative is that most places close up by 2 AM, but most people don't seem to mind that.
The city is fairly compact so it generally doesn't take too long to get to where you are going. Traffic is an issue during rush hour, however.
Boston has been welcoming immigrants for a long time so there are lots of adventurous restaurants to try if you are a foodie.
Easy trip to NYC by bus, train, or car if you want to venture a little further afield.

I moved to the US 5 years ago so that trail sounds great!! I never learned US history.
I think we'd both be very happy in Boston. Especially with hiking not too far away, and all the food. I'm really into food. Can you tell?
As for teams, we will remain loyal to the Seahawks, but maybe I'll make an effort to integrate and start watching Boston baseball 😉

New england is fantastic! I lived in Rhode Island for 2 years and I am hopefully moving to boston this summer (fingers crossed, hoping to get in to tufts too 😉)

Well I hope you will get into Tufts then! I can't remember from the Tufts thread, have you interviewed there already?

Tufts is a great school, I had a roommate doing their Maine resident program and a few other friends and they are very happy to be in the program. Rooting for you to get that II soon!
 
This Boston talk is so timely, I'm literally sitting here looking at flight prices to get to this II at Boston University. Been waffling about it for a while. If any Bostonites feel like offering a critique of the city to someone who's never been, I'm open to listening 😀

Saw your Iowa II, congrats! I am accepted there as OOS, non-trad, no ties, so it is quite possible to do it. I fell in love with the school while I was there. Pick a date?

Traffic sucks. I live 5 miles from work and it takes me an an hour to get home by public transportation, so I bike as often as I can.

If you're coming to BU we should meet, I work as a BMC RA right next to the medical school building!

Hey yeah thanks! My wife and her entire family are actually from Iowa, so I'll try to push those ties at the interview haha.

It looks like early January are the options (1st or 2nd week, probably going with first)

Whether traffic is horrific depends on where you are coming from. It is bad enough that I would not suggest living in the suburbs and attending BU or Tufts, but if you live near the med schools or on a subway/bus line then it should be fine. BU also has a snazzy new apartment building for its med students with much lower rental rates than the surrounding part of the city.

I loved my interview day at BU. The school has a deep-rooted social mission that appealed strongly to me. If that's the sort of thing you like as well then you should definitely come check it out!

Oh, awesome - good luck! If you want to discuss any specifics on Carver feel free to PM me. They have been super helpful so far. Not sure if matriculating yet, but it is in my top 3 choices.

Yeah, I'd love to! Looks like it's going to work out best for me to fly up on 1/7 and back out on 1/9, so I'll have that Friday evening free.

Yes, traffic can be horrible. Although sometimes I think that's a weird thing to say about a city because in every major city, traffic can be horrible. I use the T (MBTA - public transit system) for 90% of my transportation and that suits me really well. The T certainly isn't perfect, and some areas of the city are better serviced than others, but I know lots of people who live in the city completely car free. Most people do that by supplementing with a bike or, for when they really need a car, Zipcar.

Boston is a healthy city - as in the city is growing, industry is thriving, and the cultural scene always has something going on. There are lots of different cuisines to try - in the last month I've been out to Peruvian, German, Lebanese, as well as my favorite dumpling house in Chinatown. The huge concentrations of universities can give you a lot of things to do... I've spent countless hours at free lectures and conferences offered at the various schools of Harvard, MIT, and Tufts, and those are just the ones near me...

There are downsides. While I love the T, it has it's challenges. And, depending on the neighborhood, the cost of living is very steep. Particularly rent and real estate.

Obviously I love the city I live in, though. I moved here for college and never left because I love this place. Going to a Boston school would be an amazing opportunity to me, but I know the statistics and I'm not holding my breath. BU already told me no thank you and the other schools have been silent. If medical school works out for me, I'll probably have to move, but my wife and I may return someday.
