I am freaking out because I think my low GRE scores (both verbal and quant), as expected, will keep me out of grad school. I see people getting interview invitations / interview dates being posted for universities that I applied to (Yale, Temple, University of Pennsylvania, University of Oregon, University of Wyoming).

My Background: BA in Psychology + BA dissertation; Msc in Neuropsychology + Msc dissertation; 8 publications (2nd and 3rd co-authorships); 6 years of research; 4 years of clinical work; 5 poster presentations and abstract submissions.

Program and Term of interest: Clinical Psychology/fall 2018

Applied to (in no particular order): Yale University, Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Michigan, University of Iowa, Temple university, Indiana University Bloomington, Duke University, University of Oregon, Boston university, The University of Vermont, University of Wisconsin-Madison, The university of Maine, University of Wyoming, George Mason University, Eastern Michigan University, Washington State University, University of Missouri, Kansas City.

Received interview invitation at: Eastern Michigan University

Rejected by: University of Iowa

Accepted by: ...

I cannot wait to go to therapy this weekend to vent! I don't know if I can survive 18 rejections. This whole process was expensive and emotionally draining.

You are going to be fine! You've already been invited to interview. Most likely, you'll receive at least half invitations to interview. Good luck. Your background is impressive.

What exactly are your GRE scores and your undergrad and grad GPAs?

I think you actually have a very impressive application! Trust me, I also thought my GRE scores and my GPA were too low for all the schools I applied to, but my current supervisors and other graduate students have told me it's the overall application and if anything is bad, as long as everything else is better, they can look over it. They also told me experience is a big thing and judging by all your work, you have an impressive record! I think you just have to be a bit patient and don't lose hope!

Also keep in mind that other factors (e.g., fit, personal statement, LORs) play a role in invitations. Sometimes some of the more subjective pieces can offset low objective measures (GRE). Some schools have more flexibility with regard to GRE “cutoffs,” while others (like my program) adhere pretty closely to the cutoffs due to funding. All of that said, I know this process can be very stressful. There’s still time!

Does anyone know if University of Missouri - St. Louis has sent out their invitations? I know in their brochure it says their interview days are 1/29 and 2/2 so I'm thinking they should be sent out soonish...

I don't think they have. I have not heard anything and no one on grad cafe has said anything. But hopefully anytime now because that date is coming up soon!

Any word from American, GW PsyD or Uniformed Services?

I haven't heard back from Temple University, but the interview dates are 19/1 and 22/1. Does that mean I'll unlikely be getting an interview? When can I safely assume that I probably have been weeded out 🙁? 1 week before the interview dates?

I thought so too. I've seen people with many other POIs getting an invitation, but I've yet to see one person with my POI. So I'm keeping my hopes up for 4 more days 😕

Question: So I was emailed that I am a high alternate for admission and that I may be invited to interview if a slot opens. Does anyone know what this means / what are the chances of being invited to interview? Thanks in advance!

From what I know, UAB and ECU invites have not gone out yet. UAB invites should go out by January 26th according to CUDCP's timeline, and their interview weekend is Feb 11th and 12th per their website, if that helps.
I haven't heard anything from ECU, but looking at the archive on TGC, their invites typically go out later for a later interview weekend.
I received an email inviting me to interview at UNC Charlotte. Interview day is January 26th.
I'm not sure about the others!

I would say that it's a good sign, and they think you're qualified but that your original POI just can't make it work. It sounds like it will be an informal interview, with the goal of checking to make sure that you weren't absolutely dead set on the other POI. It may be that if it goes well, that POI would extend an invitation to you to interview.

Hello! Has anyone who applied to LE at Temple heard back about interviews? Thanks and good luck to all!

Yeah they have a mass email sent from the DCT, so it is likely that if you haven't heard from them, that you will not hear from them.

Congratulations on your interview at Charlotte and best of luck to you...I was hoping I would hear back from them but I am still hopeful that I'll hear from my other perspectives.

Could the people who got interviews from University of Oregon's Clinical psychology pm me their POIs? The interviews are on Jan 19, so I think my chances are VERY small at getting an interview at this point... do you all agree?

Unless there's alternate interview date that is later, it's probably safe to say that you're out of the running for Oregon. They wouldn't invite you with less than two weeks left until the interview date.
