Was thinking the same thing! We made it through another work week! Huzzah!!!!! Now let's all try to get some R&R in before Monday and we have to go back to obsessively checking emails again. I'm going to treat myself with an unhealthy amount of Netflix/shows. What about you all?!
 
So much Netflix! Actually, that’s a lie. So much Hulu (Brooklyn 99, anyone?)!!

Also probably a good amount of yoga ‍♀️

Solidarity sister! I'll be pumping on interviews too (if I get any invites!) I don't have any advice but love what folks have been saying. I was on the interview circuit last year when I found out I was pregnant with my second baby. I was screening my sites for family-friendliness. I asked point-blank about work-life balance and whether other interns we're parents. It was really telling to see how folks (current interns and training faculty) answered!

Sorry about the UAB news. 🙁

I'm still in UAB limbo. As far as I can tell - neuropsychgirl1988 and CatsFan are the only neuro people who have heard from UAB that have posted about it and they received both notification of invites and rejections. I haven't received anything. Checked my spam folder and everything. I'm considering inquiring about my status maybe next week. I would just like to know for sure before I completely close the door on that one. Thoughts?

I'd love to hear what kind of responses you got when you asked...what a great way to get a sense of the site! *fellow BFer*
 
I'm a dad, but my kid was between 2 weeks and 3-months-old during the course of my grad school interviews. It was very interesting how the different programs responded when I would bring it up. The places that emphasized how brave I was to be doing this with a baby were pretty telling. Not that there's any real expectation of work-life balance during grad school, but you could tell which DCTs were more supportive.

Responses were overwhelmingly positive (possibly a function of my niche—I do perinatal mental health stuff).quite a few folks said things like “oh, make sure you talk to this person, they have a kid” or “let me put you in touch with that person, they had a baby halfway through our program.” A few people actually seemed to feel guilty that they couldn’t think of any past interns who had kids during their training year. I only got one “well, it’s a 50 hour work week, so it’s hard. But when you go home, we don’t want you to take any work with you.”
 
Anyone else hear from Texas child study center? I’m going nuts since the first post this morning checking my email constantly

And I'm sorry 🙁 . I know how much it sucks to see people post about invites to sites on your list while you sit with radio silence. I'm in the same boat with 2 of my other sites (as I'm sure many others are too). The back and forth between actively preparing for a rejection and trying to hold out hope is really, really draining. Hope you keep your head up! We'll all hear soon enough

colleague received invitation from Nebraska Internship Consortium yesterday! Invites to the Munroe Meyer Institute program's integrated care and Center for ASD tracks.

Are either or both of y'all staying in one of the hotels they suggested in their invite? Is y'all's site offering a tour on the 30th, as well? If so, are you going? Will that mean another night in Springfield for you? Although I'm far too introverted and sleep persnickety for room sharing, it wouldn't suck to meet some other applicants around the hotel and maybe commisserate about this whole process over a nightcap or a morning coffee, or whatever?

Sounds like a plan! I am not sure if they are offering site tours on 30th. But I will be there on 30th night. I haven't booked any hotel yet. let me know where we can catch up!

I'm probably looking to stay at the cheaper of the two suggestions listed in the letter, but I haven't booked it yet. I just got another email today saying that the site I applied to (Burrell) would be offering tours on the 30th since they're in the same town as the interviews. I haven't replied yet because I've been swamped today and was on campus until after 9 tonight, but I plan to respond affirmatively that I'd like to do the site tour. The schedule of the Burrell tour will decide how many nights I end up booking. If it's towards the end of the day on the 30th, I might be able to get away with driving in that day (about a 7 hr drive for me) instead of staying over on the 29th, too. I'll let you know when I've pulled the trigger and booked something, but unless the cheaper option is all booked up or I happen across some kind of horrifying review of it, I'll almost for sure be staying there.

I am staying with my family who live in SW Missouri so I won’t need a hotel- but I would be happy to meet some fellow applicants!

Thanks! They emailed me at 4:55pm EST. I didn't get a chance to get on SDN until almost 10pm and was surprised no one else had posted in, also I think this is earlier than they've notified in the past so they might not be done with invites! It ain't over til the rejection email comes in! (At least that's what I've been telling myself with other sites, ha)
