Vanderbilt University Medical Center Internship in Professional Psychology
General Adult Psychiatry
Invitation
Personal Email on 11/22
Interview Dates:
Monday December 11th, 2017 - we would meet from 1pm-5pm
Friday December 15th, 2017 - we would meet from 1pm-5pm
Friday January 5th, 2018 - we would meet from 8am-1pm
Monday January 8th, 2018 - we would meet from 1pm-5pm

Big hug. Feeling pretty ****ty myself, too. Practicing DBT skills while catastrophizing... So I'm radically accepting that I won't match and will die alone and unhappy!

I’m riding the rejection train too. 0/3. Now I’m wishing I had applied to MORE sites!

My hands are way up! 6 rejections, two more sites have sent invites and I've received no correspondence, and the rest are reaches so I'm not super optimistic. But I also have one interview at Kennedy Krieger Institute despite rejections from less competitive sites, so honestly all I've learned from this process is that it's a total crapshoot and chance plays a bigger factor than anyone wants to admit.

Also you still have 21 sites left to hear from! Which I know isn't really helpful to hear, and there's nothing anyone can say to make it feel better, but it's still really early for you.
 
I see one of the sites I applied to has begun calling to invite today. My phone has not rung. Haven't anything from any sites yet at all, so getting concerned. And by concerned I mean...freaking the f out internally while working at prac.

I'm struggling with this too. My daughter has the best daycare I think I'll ever find and the wait-list is horrendous in big cities. I refuse to let her go to some ho-dunk house where she is ignored and told to watch tv all day so my thought was once I got the interview to simply start looking. I'm all for getting great training but ultimately the quality of her schooling is going to be a factor for ranking (she's 15 months now and will almost 2 years old when we start internship). Then, if I find a school I really like and they have a long wait-list, I might just bite the bullet and pay to submit an app and get on. I imagine I'll lose a couple hundo in the process since it seems most appas are about $30 but I don't know what else to do. And while some VA's and Universities have daycare's, I have found their wait-lists can be 1+ years.

Deciding I'll go on a walk to a) tempt the Universe to have a site reach out to me and b) convince my Fitbit that I'm not dead:
Me: "Well, I guess I'll be going now.... Yes, it seems that I will be leaving the company of my laptop... I'm going, right now I am leaving..."
My brother: "Who are you talking to?"
Me: "It's not important, it's just important that I'M GOING NOW, do you hear me? I. Am. Going. Now..."

This is exactly what I was thinking! I am "cleaning data," AKA clicking between SPSS (doing nothing), checking email, checking phone calls, and then checking this forum. God, I love rumination.

I also got a rejection from Aurora! AND I got an email from a site I've already received an interview from asking if anyone would be willing to switch dates. Next time I try to trick the Universe into getting a site to contact me I need to be more specific hahah
