2018-2019 APPIC Internship Interview Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
On a different subject, do y'all have any suggestions on shoes for interviews in cold/potentially snowy ( 😱:dead: ) climates? For some perspective, I am a Southern gal born and raised who has managed to exist on this planet for over 2.5 decades without buying an actual winter, wool coat, and am at a total loss for suitable winter-appropriate shoes to go with my suit. My pants have a trouser leg that my pumps look great with, but I don't want to be slipping and sliding outside in that stuff y'all call snow and ice. This is not a "what's "appropriate" interview attire" question, this is a serious "what kind of shoes do people wear when it's cold and snowy because I'm from a city that literally shuts down at the CHANCE of snow" question. Any suggestions are more than welcome! :help:
I interviewed a bunch of super wintry places last year, and wore black snow boots with my dress suit. It wasn't the dressiest get-up, but no one seemed to give a damn. (Other interviewees I saw wore hardcore winter boots, left them by the coat-rack and brought flats). One of my interviews included walking around some seriously snowy terrain for a tour, and I looked way more profesh than the women stumbling around in 4-inch heels. So, my experience is, when it's cold out, do whatever you need to not fall on your face and/or get pneumonia - dress code come second to that! =)

I didn't write down all dates on their scheduling calendar, but the dates were December 18, 19, Jan. 2, 3, 4th... through January 12th I believe.
Oh. My.Goodness!!!! Such a relief given the radio silence from 14 of the 19 sites I applied to.

Ditto that! I had a similar experience applying to graduate school in Vermont and Montana and people tended to respect someone who would wear practical shoes and still be able to look professional. Black leather ankle high or calf boots can be a great happy medium if the weather is really terrible.

Here are two that were posted as rejections previously, but didn't make it to the main update page. Figured I'd post the invite info in case anyone is waiting on these or curious.

Here's to a good day of notifications tomorrow! Good luck all!

Anybody interviewing at St. Lukes/know anyone who is interviewing that might have a little flexibility in switching dates? They are trying to schedule me for Friday the 15th but I already have an interview scheduled across the country on that day and already bought a flight so am HOPING to interview on Dec. 14th instead.

I am very curious to learn about rejections and invitations that have been privately messaged. Has anyone gotten a rejection from New Orleans VA or the Salem VA? Has anyone heard from the Hampton Virginia VA? Tucson VA? Please feel free to private message me and I will post the information for you.

Very interested to hear about the Salem VA because their interview notification date is after their first posted date and on their second posted date. So confusing...smh.

I’m now at 4 rejections and 0 interviews. My panic level is reaching even newer highs 🙁:scared:

Hey guys
i'm looking for that separate thread someone made for interview tips but can't find it - could someone link back?
thanks!

Man, that really sucks- TERRIBLE way to start things out. BUT! I will just remind you (as I have been reminding myself) that each application is a separate, independent event (#stats) and 4 rejections doesn't mean the rest will be rejections too! Keep the faith!!!
