2018-2019 APPIC Internship Interview Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
New here - I saw some Central Western Massachusetts VA invites on here, but I'm still waiting to hear anything and their notification date was yesterday - anyone else in this boat?

Has anybody received a rejection from University of Maine CC or University of Illinois - Chicago CC? I know some invites went out yesterday but I haven't heard either way.
I didn’t hear anything from Illinois CC either. I am trying to remain hopeful 🙂
I got this rejection this morning as well...8 rejections for me. Anyone else possibly mentally preparing for phase 2?

Right there with ya!

Also, as a random aside for people trying to book/coordinate travel plans - I have received some good deals through Expedia, especially for the trips where I needed to coordinate flights, hotel, and rental car. They also allow for hotel/flight changes for free after booking, which may be helpful for some people who want to book early but are not 100% sure about certain travel plans yet.

They also have a mobile app that will show all of the details of each trip in a very easy to navigate and clean fashion. Just wanted to throw that out there since I have seen some people posting about it!

Ps. No, I am not an Expedia rep, I promise. 😉

This is really helpful! No change fees (though I assume there's a fare difference you'll have to pay) is always helpful. Southwest does this as well but it's good to know that Expedia has it. Also the idea of all the trip details in one app is super appealing.
Also my friend DOES work for Expedia lol so I'm glad to hear you're having a positive experience with it!

WAIT - they allow for non-fee changes after booking flights?!? For reals???

I think we need some #forumfam love right now. As much as the radio silence and rejections suck, we can't lose hope yet. December 15th hasn't come and gone and we have to rally!!!! And even if we all end up in Phase II that means that we are going to have the most fun Phase II #forumfam ever. Everyone matches somewhere 🙂😍:hardy::highfive::highfive::highfive:

On a related note...even if you can, doesn't mean you necessarily should 😉

Where is everyone seeing these match rates based on number of interviews?

Google "appic match statistics" and the first link will give you all the stats from past years. The ones people are referring to are under "Part 2: Applicant by Applicant & Program Characteristics" for 2016 under the "Survey Results" section when you scroll down.

Were the questions difficult?

No, it was surprisingly a pleasant interview day all around. We had a few 30 minute interviews with different people, and had a few vignettes thrown in. Not sure that they're looking for anything specific for the vignettes, just to hear you talk through it.

Hi! Thanks for posting! Just to confirm (and maybe hold out some hope haha) was this definitely the adult track or was it adult/child?

Honestly could have seen this coming a mile away. My focus has been in substance use and forensic neuropsychology; this site is predominantly geriatric evaluation and rehabilitation. If there’s anything I’ve learned in my rejections, it’s fit matters over all. All interviews have tailored rotations to my interests and all rejections have not aligned well with anything I’ve done in research or practicum. #lessonlearned #thirststillunquenched

Did anyone who is interviewing at Medical College of GA/Charlie Norwood VA get the packet of info they said they would mail? I haven't yet and I'm going there next week so just wondered.

I haven’t received anything either.

At what point do we prompt them?

They e-mailed me the interview schedule ("Dear [name]..." in attached document), information on hotels/airport/transportation, and maps of the site just this morning (10:23AM CST). My interview is this Friday 12/8. Hope you get yours soon!
