I reached out to the DCT there and she said the notification deadline was extended to the 15th to accommodate their application deadline extension.

I went through all the appic update emails and only saw the change in app deadline. #greggstrikesagain #externalizingmyanxiety #thirstyaf #Houstoned

I haven’t heard either way and neither has @Sincerely.Me we were PM ing about it earlier today 🙁

I can't speak for the situation in Atlanta, but I've really lucked out in finding some really nice Airbnbs super close to a few of my sites. I usually compare the Airbnb and hotel costs, amenities, and distance/convenience to the interview sites when I'm debating between hotel or Airbnb. Always be sure you read the description and reviews thoroughly, and ask questions of the hosts if you have them/need clarification on something, but this might be a cheaper alternative to hotels.

Gonna have to lean that way... Atlanta is like 250/night in some places, minimum of about 150 Unless you wanna stay somewhere sketchy

Yikes! Hope you're able to find something cheaper on Airbnb. I was able to find places (entire apartment) in Philly and Richmond that are literally across the street from the site for under $120. I know it'll depend on the city, but I hope you can find some legit deals too! Let me know if you need a referral code (if you're a first time Airbnb user).

Have you guys checked Hilton.com? If you sign up and become a rewards member (it’s free), they’ve had a promotion going on (20% off rates) & there’s some good deals on nice hotels/good areas in most states.

For those who did not receive the rejection email from Duke CAPS, had anyone heard from them regarding invites?

Also... I can’t believe we have to wait until Tuesday to even think about sending an email for UPenn interviews !
 
Y'all, this internship process has got me all shook up from my normal routine. I just got a call from a random number and answered it, something I would never ordinarily do, and:
Me: "Hello?"
Rando lady on the other end: "Yeah, I have a missed call from this number so I'm just calling you back."
Me: "Oh, that's weird, I didn't call you."
Rando lady: "Well I have a missed call, so clearly you did."
Me: "Umm...I'm sorry, I don't know how that happened but I didn't call you."
Rando lady: "Well thanks for wasting my time, b*tch!!"

The best part is y'all know if my phone rings again I will def answer it. I miss the days pre-internship when I could just ignore rando calls on my phone.

I'm all about the bnbs because KITCHENS!!!! Not having to spent a bunch of money on restaurants will be wonderful as this process is already costing a small fortune - yes I'm very grateful for my interviews AND I'm not so grateful about all the travel-car-hotel expenses +pity+

Yes, love a well-stocked kitchen! And you're so right, the cost of this whole thing is insane. I'm starting to think Jean-Ralphio was onto something...perhaps this is how I afford this process...

Congrats!! I got a rejection from them today 🙁 (Latino Family Health track)

Not totally heartbroken about it since I already have some interviews at amazing sites, but a rejection on a Saturday is still not fun :inpain:

I wonder why they're intentionally notifying people at different times? Internship intrigue!

What's the point? People in their "second wave if the first wave can't come" keep the dates open because they think there is a chance instead of assuming they're likely rejected...?

I have not received any email yet from Houston and my friend neither. This could be bad news???? I hope we are wrong and we receive an invite!!!

I haven't heard anything either way yet, either.

At first I figured the reason might be that they needed a bit of time to put the invite letter together, get the online scheduler up and running, what have you, so I was feeling cautiously optimistic...but now I'm starting to think they're still actively making rejection, invite, and possibly wait-list determinations on the rest of the applications.

I haven't had this happen. If this is something that's being done now, it seems like an attempt to ensure that applicants who hear back about their invite later on wouldn't think they were the second-round draft picks (so to speak) which I can kind of appreciate--assuming that the timing of one's invitation has no bearing on how strongly an applicant is being considered in this scenario. But asking us to keep this information secret seems like a burden that shouldn't be placed on the applicants. It's plenty burdensome already. This feels especially slimy if the people who hear later ARE the second-round draft picks, and it's through the complicity of other applicants that this information about how highly they are being considered relative to others is kept from them.

All and all, don't like it. I prefer everything related to this process be as transparent as a damp, off-brand paper-towel, and instead it's feeling more and more as though it's been coated in Vantablack.

I totally did not save dates. I did first-invite, first booked style. An interview in hand is worth two please-internship-gods-make-it-happen prayers 😉

Aaargh! As all 15 of my sites are UCCs, now I hate this (hopefully entirely hypothetical) practice from the perspective of someone who may be impacted by it personally rather than just on principle.

At this point I am feeling disappointed:

-Nova University: Rejection
-Miami Dade County: Rejection
-Jackson Health System: Rejection
-Nicklaus Children Hospital: Rejection
-Goodman Psychological Services Center: Invite

Still waiting for sites but ruminating as I applied to sites only in the Miami area because I have children and much more here....Once I received the first four rejections I realized that I made a big mistake and then began looking for site outside of the city and outside the state as well, but it was late as all the good sites were already close. Last weekend I applied to Houston UT Health-General track and to San Antonio UTHealth as well. I also applied to University of Nevada-Las Vegas! I wonder if one of you have received something from these sites? I am hopeful as it was actually incredible to find open sites that were APA-accredited. However, I still feel like ......because of the rejections. I thought I was a good candidate and now I certainly sureI am not.

Thanks so much for your supportive reply!!!! I am not a US citizen, which is a requirement for many sites. Moreover, I applied to sites to which I consider not to be a good fit as I am neuro with most experience in the geriatric population but I really did not have more choices. I hope a miracle happen. I really would love to move to Houston were I have friends and family as well, aside of great professional opportunities. I will continue praying and asking God for help.

Good memory! And BTW...I would never try to raise people's anxiety...it raised MY anxiety, because I'm waiting on 10 sites still and wondered if this was a "thing" We are all in this hell together+pissed+

I have 11 more to hear back from! I'm beginning to think this process is the true test of neuroticism. Like screw you NEO-PI we'll just throw all the grad students into a hunger games style internship interview process and see how they cope.

I have 7 more to hear from but I am assuming most are rejections. Expect the worst, hope for the best I suppose! Did anyone apply to Scott & White? Last year they notified 12/2 but I haven't seen any offers/rejections on here. Anyone heard anything?
