They're reading dozens of pages of text for *each* applicant so your eyes have to glaze over at some point? No idea about the assessment percentage errors though, not sure how closely those kinda things are looked at or not.

Ok, I am trying so hard to stay grounded and positive while tensely trying to manage the radio silence...and then someone runs up to my porch and steals a Christmas package, MAKING EYE CONTACT WITH ME AS SHE MAKES HER GETAWAY and I'm holding my baby and can do nothing about it.

Yeah, I have one 12-4 that I'm soooo grateful for! :happy: The rest (so far) are around 8am start times. Even 10-5 would be sooo much better! Since I'm staying with friends or family for pretty much all of them, that means maybe an hour-ish commute to some of these sites depending on how far they live. I'm obviously grateful for the chance to save $$ on hotels and get support around this stressful experience 🙂 but yeah, having to look polished and professional and feel alert and awake by 7am is definitely not my cup of tea :arghh:

Oh mannnn getting in that late the night before an 8am interview??? That's really brutal 😴 Good luck!! Hope you get a nap in on the plane at least! (If you're flying in... if you're driving, then wow, that's so rough!)

Haha, yeah. Today's the day we're supposed to find out. They probably "stay on Hawaii time." Weren't in-person interviews/tour anticipated or announced on the APPIC directory scheduled for 12/18/17 too? That doesn't give much time for invited applicants to prepare and plan if they have to fly to Hawaii

The interviews are entirely online. There is an optional open house on 1/19.

YAY! Me too!! Good to know there shall be a fellow #forumfam there on the 12th! I was confused at first about the open house since the phrase "open house" sounds very casual, show up when you want, and then just stroll away as you so please. But it's more like 8:00am-5:00pm all day including plans with all the things at all the places!

Might as well get used to it. This old night owl now works 8-430 and is in bed by 945 to wake up for work. Grad school sucks, but at least I could go to sleep when I wanted, wake up (mostly) when I wanted, and go to the gym at 10 am. Wahhhh. I’ll stop complaining; back to you, prospective interns... just an emo supervisor here reminiscing about less tired times.
 
Anyone heard from Memphis VA, particularly neuropsych track? That's the last one I'm waiting on. 🙁
 
So...I've seen people talk about making one way flight reservations to account for future interviews they may receive. Help me understand how that makes sense. Is this in circumstances you're certain any additional interviews would be after and not before the one you have scheduled already?

In my case, yes. Or sometimes if I'm going directly from one site to the next, but don't know what's happening before OR after.

There is something real off today. I’m having a bad day, a friend I spoke to is having a bad day, your day sounds awful. Who is this human? The grinch. So rude. Ugh I hope it can be replaced. But seriously though, this day needs to end.

I am waiting on Mt. Washington too! I know they sent out invites a few weeks ago but I am trying to remain hopeful that I am on a C or D list haha

I'm so sorry! That's really the pits. And what's with the eye contact? Guilt, or intimidation, or... maybe she's a robot?!?
 
They vary a bit from site to site, but one of the more common strategies is to rate applications as they come in. They will rank orsee the candidates and then go through that list serially. As they begin extending offers some interviewees will be unreachable (crazy people), some will have accepted other invitations already, and they will continue down their list to maintain a full interview panel. Once deadline is reached, everyone will be notified of their status. This is why sites with rolling invites have wait lists and other sites dont.

Again, lots of variation on that, but that at least gives you a basic schematic of the process.

Yes! I’ve been waiting on them all week, really hoping I would hear something today! I’m still waiting on four, even though most of my sites notified before Thanksgiving...I’m pretty sure two of those are rejections though haha

ETA: I meant yes I’m also waiting, not yes I’ve heard anything
 
I'm feeling a bit twitchy about not hearing from Kansas City VA yet since they sent invites on 12/6 last year. Anyone else?

Clarifying question abouth the "School" part of your track: Is this the child primary care track?

Congratulations!!! I have been waiting for this...do you mean CHA/Weil Foundation Track (Track IV), the Combined Adult and Child Track (Track II) and - Asian Team. Track III-A: Cultural Linguistic Team ? were these tracks too sent invites?
