RIGHTEOUS! Do you have an idea of what Open House (if any) you'd go to?
Likely, I would go to the one on the 8th if possible. But, I have not decided yet. My training department urges us to go to the Open Houses if phone interviews are offered, but the financial aspect of travelling to another interview is just... ugh.

Anyone else still waiting to hear from CHA Track II (Combined Adult/Child)? I know invites went out to other tracks last week, and I'm honestly not expecting good news, but I was just curious if anyone else had heard anything. Kinda bummed about this one, tbh. 🙁

FYI:

Dear Applicant:
Thank you for your interest in our site. Our Selection Committee has completed the application reviews for the 2018-2019 intern positions and unfortunately, we are unable to offer you an interview. Our interview selection is based on very site-specific criteria. The most common reasons that an applicant is not offered an interview at our site are:
1) interests and goals that are not a clear fit with our training philosophy and the experiences we can provide;
2) less multicultural self-awareness or experience than other applicants; and
3) less clinical experience than other applicants

We understand how difficult it is to hear news like this but we sincerely wish you every success in the matching process and hope that you will find a site that complements your training goals. If, however, you do not match successfully and are interested in feedback from us, please do not hesitate to contact me at the email below after the final ranking date.

^I wonder if this is from one of our lurking TDs here 😉

Anyone have great audiobook recommendations for long drives to interviews? Especially anything that might be available on Kindle Unlimited? 🙂

Well fudge, this place sounded awesome/had special things I was looking for.

Still waiting on the University of Vermont. If anyone has any recent news please let me know.

I am but I'm expecting a rejection at this point.
My adviser told me that she was notified of her interview for MUSC on the 14th (i.e., today!) and that rejections typically go out on the 15th. So I am assuming it's either an interview today, or a rejection tomorrow.

I'm considering canceling an interview that I have scheduled, and I'm wondering if anyone else is in the same boat/has thoughts about this. I have been pleasantly surprised to have received enough interviews that I am now starting to feel overwhelmed by the prospect of attending them all, and I know that I am not really excited about the work that is done at this particular site. However, I'm feeling guilty for having accepted and scheduled the interview in the first place, and I don't want to put the site in a tough spot. That being said, I also want to practice self care/advocate for myself/etc. and not spend lots of time and money interviewing at a site that I'm not nearly as excited about relative to the others where I'll be interviewing. I've also thought about requesting to swap to a phone interview, but I can't even imagine how I would go about doing that now that the interview is already scheduled (and they offered so many interview days that a conflict on every single day would be almost impossible). Help!

Haha... I can assure you that I'm not a Training Director. Just copied and pasted the email I received. Thought it might be helpful for others to see it since it had the feedback component. Also, the text is strikingly similar to another rejection email that someone posted earlier. I'm wondering if the TD's have a list-serve where they complain about the applicants and share text suggestions 🙂

On that note:

Hahahahaha I figured, I meant I wonder if some TDs saw this thread and carefully crafted this letter to be sent this morning 🙂

I'd say politely decline in non-specific terms. If you won't be happy for that year, what's the point? Worst case scenario if you go would be you rank them low and still be likely to match somewhere where you'll be happier.

That being said, you might be surprised by enjoying new experiences in which you immerse yourself after thinking you would not have. I hated working with a certain population at one site, but in the subsequent year found I actually loved it. I learned that what I hated was my old supervisor's style and legitimate lack of physical resources to adequately treat the community we served (too few treatment rooms, a headache scheduling among a million other externs, etc)

I agree - however, we've also been told that some sites will be offended and thus it will reflect poorly on your graduate program, making it less likely for future students to get an interview. In my opinion, though, that would reflect poorly on the site and say a lot about their compassion and understanding of this process from our point of view. Just wanted to throw it out there since that's what our TD told us!

The only UCC that I haven't heard from yet is George Washington University but I know they sent out interview invitations a while ago, so just waiting on that closure email. C'mon GWU, don't ghost me, just break up with me face-to-face ... LOLZ.

Ugh I'm sorry 🙁 I applied there too and have been in limbo... Guess I'll keep an eye out for my rejection coming today.
