2018 APPIC Internship Phase II - onward and upward!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
When I saw that the UC Davis CAARE Center had extended an interview invite yesterday, I lost hope, but I got one from them today! I think even more than in Phase I it ain't over till it's over. (But also, waiting is the worst)
This makes me so happy. I felt the same way yesterday! I'm hoping for a call today! fingers crossed!

Hi all! Did anyone apply to sites for neuropsych? Wondering if anyone has heard from North Texas and Detroit VAs

Call from EPPIC (UT El Paso CC) on the 5th to set up interview this week

Email from WCPIP on the 5th to set up interview this week or next (Wichita State CC)

Guess I didn’t get Utah State or University of Memphis UCC. Anyone heard from North Colorado CC or UC Santa Cruz?

I have a feeling you and I have some stuff in common based on where we both applied🙂 I applied and haven't heard anything from North Colorado CC. I'll keep you posted if I do though.

EDIT: I know it's one thing to say this and another to do it but since Utah State was doing phone calls it's possible they'll still be making calls tomorrow. I'm hoping so for you.

I interviewed with Utah State previously, pm me if anyone would like to chat about it.

All via email-

Invites:
3/5 Carle Foundation Hospital
3/5 The Chicago School Community Internship consortium -CMH
3/5 Stone Mountian Health Services
3/6 Institute for Multicultural Counseling & Education Services (think I might have to turn this one down because I am in Chicago and they are requiring in person interviews in California)

Rejects:
3/5 Girard Medical Center

Ok, so "like" to all the offers - SUPER congrats! But WTF Multicultural Counseling?! I think in a past phase II forum I read that the multicultural counseling place was requiring in person interviews in phase 2. Seems odd at a place that's on the surface all about serving underserved and minority populations, so issues of financial disparities and hardship should be pretty apparent to them. I'll get off my soapbox, but dang.

Agreed - one of the university sites stated they no longer have site interviews at all due to social justice issues - ie economic disparity

Thanks! Will let you know. Maybe we will both hear from Nothern Colorado! And good luck with your interviews 🙂

Has anyone found interview prep material they have found really helpful?

Congrats! Were Minneapolis and Milwaukee VAs mass emails?

Wait I thought I read on one of the APPiC things they weren’t allowed to even request this in phase 2 for practical travel reasons

Found this From APPIC
In order to avoid the perception that local applicants have an unfair advantage in your selection process, APPIC further recommends that applicants in Phase II who are geographically close to your internship program be interviewed in the same manner (i.e., via telephone or Skype) as non-local applicants

I have to agree, it’s also extremely last minute to ask us to buy plane tickets to LA. Especially when there are other interviews and I have a local in person interview scheduled the day before. It just stinks I have to take an option off my list because I can’t make it work for an interview. Thanks for the congrats though!!

You may already know this, but there's another thread (or perhaps it was on the original phase 1 thread) where people listed interview questions they were given at specific sites.

They aren’t supposed to and are meant to make every effort not to. But I guess some sites play by their own rules. The training department at my school said if I don’t go I can assume even if they give me a Skype interview I will be automatically counted out.

Kingston Internship Consortium 3/7. Phone interview on 3/9 with a writing component 😱. If anyone has interviewed with them, all tips are welcome!

The Village for Families and Children, Inc. 3/7 non-personalized e-mail invite to phone interview this week or next.
I'm from CT and a friend of mine matched with this site. It's a great place if you're looking for a heavy trauma training experience. Congrats!

Anyone hear from UF, Washington DC VA, or Detroit VA?

So just because I believe in the saying plan for the worst but hope for the best...what are the options for people who don't match in phase 2? I really hope we all match but as this process goes on, my Type A personality needs to know plan B haha
