2020-2021 Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (Erie, Pennsylvania)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Non-acceptances were 0.46 last I saw and what I had on my alternate letter. I don’t know if it matters where you are located or what. But it may be a good sign. Best of luck!
from NY. and are all the letters from Pittsburgh PA, even if Elmira was listed as my #1? its been postmarked for the 15th of Jan

Anyone with a zoom session this Friday get a link or get their folder items updated?

For everyone receiving the MMS email, from what I understand previously is that it’s for students who they like usually that need a small boost somewhere in their app that doing their MMS program shows that you have the grit to attend their school. I was “under review” for probably 9 months, didn't ever receive an interview, never got an email about the masters but heard about it through a friend and applied and did the program. Other people in my MMS class got the MMS email while I didn’t. Regardless - an MS1 now so doesn’t matter, and highly recommend the MMS program. I recommend to atleast apply, that way if you don’t get in anywhere you already have an option to matriculate through their MMS program, and if you do just pull your acceptance from the MMS. It’s like $50 to apply who cares lol

I interviewed for Elmira, marked them as my first choice, and my letter came from Pittsburgh, PA.

I interviewed at Elmira but never received anything. Did either of you interview there by chance?
Suzanne Harkness thanked me for sending it but her reply was mainly in response to my thank you email! I also use an email tracker, and I was notified as soon as my pathway form was opened. 🙂

Does anyone know if its possible to change your campus preference AFTER getting placed on the alternate list? If what they say is true and campus preference does NOT impact the initial decision to accept (simply where you are placed based on availability) then there should be little reason why I can't change my preference if I'm on the waitlist or so I would think

I emailed to submit my pathway selection form about an hour after my information session. I got a thank you response from Alyssa for sending it.
Quick question: so the pathway selection form was sent to you after your interview? Or after the information session?
I interviewed for SH last week and will have my information session next week. Should I be worried that I haven’t received this form you mentioned?

Does anyone know if the seats for Erie are filled already? My interview is scheduled for mid-february and just wanted to see how much hope to hang onto

Also got put on the alternate list today ya'll 🥺... Dumb question: did everyone else just slap a stamp on an envelope we send back or should I get tracking for it?
I just put a regular stamp on it. They confirm they received it by changing it on your portal. If you don’t see a portal change after a week, then definitely email/call to double check they got your confirmation for the alternate list.

I also received a confirmation email of my spot on the alternate list

It's been a week since I sent mine, and I did not receive a confirmation email or a portal change. I remember the deadline on my letter said by January 22, so I will be desperately calling them tomorrow!

Oooo, I sent mine last Tuesday I believe, and just got a portal change that I will be added to the alternate list today!

Does anyone have any ideas on how they are gonna be selecting alternates from the waitlist? Since it looks like almost everyone here is getting waitlisted I'm not sure how they are gonna select...

For those of you on the Elmira alternate list who need to mail your form back by the deadline -- Jessica Woods will accept a signed/scanned copy via email.

I did mail mine too, but was worried about USPS delays and wanted a backup plan.
Have you spoken with her recently?

Finally got the letter and it was what I expected... alternate. I've been fortunate enough to have been accepted to my first choice DO school already, so I'm not really bummed out. Either way its been such a long, stressful, and ridiculous process with LECOM. After seeing the amount of alternates here, I know the W/L movement will be huge. I really believe LECOM had to have made a mistake early on this cycle, because there is no way there should be this many alternates already.

I know current students who complain about LECOM's administration and the hypocritical professionalism policies that applies mainly to students but not faculty. I ended up finishing 3 interviews and getting the decision back while still being waiting back for LECOM. LECOM is still a well established DO school, and if it is your only acceptance then by all means take it. Every medical school has problems and students will always complain, but LECOM is well-known for its problems. If you have another DO acceptance I would recommend considering that option. For those that are hoping to get in from the the W/L here, I'm wishing all of you success and I really hope you all get the acceptance! This cycle has been crazy and seeing all the support and comments on this thread has made it a little more bearable. Patience will be key, and I truly think there will a lot of W/L movement this year!

Congrats you're going to be a doctor!! Really needed to hear this, thank you.

So for those of you afraid of there being no WL movement, I just looked at the facebook group for Elmira class of 2025 and there are only 65 members. It's possible that there are more accepted students that are not part of the group but if not that's only 65/120 seats filled. There is still hope🙂

Not the person you asked, but she told me i could have emailed it to save myself the trouble, but i will say Suzanne Harkness had said they wouldn't accept an emailed form!
Yea I also heard that.... Jessica is certainly the face of admissions so I’d say if you’re in a tough spot and can’t mail, go ahead and email to at the very least inform them of your decision. Like come on it’s covid and this mailing thing is rather archaic. Haven’t had to rely on the pony express in years.

Just got my acceptance today! Interviewed 9/26 for Elmira. It says the $1500 enrollment is due tomorrow though... Can anyone help?
congrats on your A!! that seems so soon to pay the enrollment fee. I don't think it would hurt to call their office today to figure out why it's due so soon and if there is anything they can do.

I don’t need an OF account to pay my deposit because I don’t have any acceptances, HA!

Wait . . . What?
I'm too lazy to go back and read all the pages of this thread. Did my theory not pan out? 😢

Not for most of us, myself included.
Wacc. It's gonna be a revolution.

I kinda regret my semi-heated decision to reject my waitlist spot but on the other hand this wait for everyone seems miserable and I'd be livid if I was given one day to pay the deposit.

That being said congrats to everyone who has an A or gets that future A, I am envious 😛

That’s around the time I interviewed, were you waitlisted first? I’m on the waitlist that’s why I’m asking🙂

also I thought you have a month to accept the offer and pay the deposit

Can someone clue me in on the postage pricing and what that means? Is it that different types of LECOM responses come in different postages? How are you guys able to see the postage prices for the mail coming in? Is there a website to do so?

On the letter that you receive, there should be a stamp on the top right corner with the postage amount listed on there. I believe some got 48 cents and others got 50 cents (including myself). But judging from the previous posts, it does not seem to indicate whether it's an A/WL/R.

Wait really? Mine was mail-in check required and they gave me like 1.5 weeks... did they send you a link for an online deposit or something?
