Another day has begun WLgang!!!

Anyone know if we’re supposed to be expecting delays in WL movement? Due to delays earlier in the cycle due to covid

I’m thinking of giving up on med school and applying to other healthcare professional schools.. anyone else? Is this a bad idea? I’m probably going to need the next year to take whatever standardized test I need to, pile on related ECs, shadow, etc

I’m afraid of reapplying again and wasting a year to end up with yet again nothing at the end of an extremely stressful year

i'd give it time to decide. i have a friend thinking of this and she's younger than me so each gap year seems a lot more scary. that's a perfectly fine decision but make sure not to rush into anything and carefully consider what you want

ACCEPTED OFF THE WL LETS GOOOO!!!!! MY ONLY A!!!! Thanks for the memes everyone. I will now go sell my bitcoin to afford medical school.
Congrats! Now I can finally stop getting hungry when I see your damn username haha (kidding). I'm happy for you!

If it makes you feel any better, I’ve had six gap years! But in that time, I gained more face to face clinical experience than probably most of my matriculating class, was able to publish papers, and most importantly, gain a lot of independence and maturity. I got my acceptance but at the end of the day there isn’t much difference between starting med school in your early, mid, or late twenties (except that maybe more gap years means you’ll be more equipped to handle it once you get in!) It’s a huge bummer for sure (I had one unsuccessful cycle prior to this one) but once you get in, all of the extra time and effort you put in feels worth it and you are a better applicant for it 🙂
This means a lot... its so hard to be kind to yourself during this process and I needed this. Thank you!!!!

I had 7 II and Im on 6 WLs and honestly feeling pretty demoralized about this whole thing. I met with a med school prof who also does admissions and basically told me my app was good and only to tweak a few things, which was good to hear but also like obviously what I've been doing hasnt been working lol. Anybody else on 5+ WLs?

sitting on 6 waitlists at the moment and praying to god that one of them at least turns into an acceptance!

Can I ask you how you went about getting that meeting? I’d love to find someone like that to review my app. Thanks and good luck to you.

Thank you, yeah it was advertised by the school actually and I paid 40 bucks for it lol, but honestly it was worth it cuz it gave me direction and I had no idea where to go after not matching to a TMDSAS school with 4 texas IIs and 3 other DO IIs. Not sure if other schools do something like this.

I asked a girl out on Bumble and she told me she prefers to wait a bit longer before meeting up with people for the first time. When should I send her my update/letter of interest?
Do you know if she operates a ranked/unranked waitlist? Also are you OOS/IS? These are crucial factors

Thanks! I’m in Texas! I appreciate it. 3 DO waitlists. I wish you the best.
