anyone know how cornell feels about update letters? Not "I published in nature" updates but more "hey I'm still alive, would give you my firstborn for an interview" kinda update....
my nature publication update that I submitted to them hasn't catalyzed anything, so who knows sir.

mayb due to the more competitive COVID cycle they're looking for nobel prizes as updates
I'm sure you will be fully considered. They don't send out decisions until March

Yeah plus I feel like especially because this cycle has been delayed in general theres more room for acceptances later this interview season. But this is just my prediction

What is the update email address? Also for those people who sent one after II, did you write it as a LOI email or just stick to updates?
Someone on here posted the update email as [email protected]. Sent my letter as an update + letter of interest. Will save the letter of intent for if I end up on the WL

Can someone shed light on what the interview day is like?
I'm used to there being a check-in/info session to kick off the day, but it seems like it won't be this way if your interviews are in the morning.

If I recall correctly, you join the Zoom with the other interviewees and interviewers (you get to see everyone). You then say hi to the moderator, Ms. Rivera, and get put into a breakout room with your first interviewer within a few minutes. Rinse and repeat for the second interview. After that, it's the orientation with all the interviewers, morning and afternoon.
Complete early September and still waiting to hear back for a II. Sent an update letter a few weeks ago. Are they still interviewing?

Last year it was March 13th (second Friday of the month)

What are everyone's thoughts on Post-II pre-decision LOIs for Cornell?
was thinking of saving mine for a trying-to-get-off waitlist situation but if i get outright rejected, I know I would regret not sending. quite a dilemma

I am caught in the exact same dilemma, it's a tough call. Anyone else have any ideas?
I think the underlying question is whether a post-interview, pre-decision LOI can potentially sway an R into a WL or A. I don't know, but I think rephrasing it this way sheds a different light on our dilemma
Edit: why not send an update+LOInterest now and save an LOIntent for a WL situation?
Hmm that is a good idea but the only issue is that I have no significant updates :/ only thing I can think of is my grades from last semester but they do not show an upward trend (same GPA as cumulative). Any potential publication I will have is going to be submitted in the next month or two.
Lol now you make me feel bad...I updated them with my semester GPA (lower than my cumulative). But the primary point of my update was something else....

I think I might just wait till post-decision and play it safe since I don't want to seem annoying to the adcom. Best of luckkk

I was thinking of sending an update+letter of interest first day of March, since my biggest worry is getting the R instead of a WL. And Cornell is my top choice out of very few choices to begin with. Updates on my end would be general research/volunteering progress which may or may not be significant depending on potential publication submissions. But I figured something is better than nothing. I don't thiiink they would be annoyed with updates/LOIs either, as long as it's concise and genuine
Wow, we are quite literally in the exact same boat haha. I might consider that and do the same thing- have a bunch of very small/"insignificant" updates combined with a letter of interest to show that I'm still extremely interested. Fingers crossed they don't get annoyed! Hope we both get that A at the end of this.

Publication or new full-time job, generally. Or national scholarship (Rhodes, Marshall, Churchill, Fulbright, etc).
When does Cornell release MD decisions?
MSAR says March 12th, which would be around the same time it's been in past years. 5 more weeks 🤢.
I thought Cornell didn’t do silent R’s?
I think they don't... But I assume my chances next to zero at this point. hehe.... lowering my expectations and hope. 😍
