2020-2021 Weill Cornell

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Can everyone that interviewed expect to hear back on the March 12th date or is that just when Weill Cornell will start giving out decisions over the next couple weeks?

You da real MVP
Just hoping for some communication soon for everyone haha. The admissions officer also said they would be interviewing into (or until) March. Tbh wasn't very clear but I didn't want to push anything (was already terrified she would give me a pre-II R over the phone lol). Given everything in the thread I'd say its still ongoing for a little more time but I'd think they will likely be done in the next few weeks

Does anyone have any knowledge of how COVID impacted the number of interviewees for Cornell? Other schools dramatically increased their interview pool and was curious if Cornell did something similar.

Regardless, hoping “mid-March” brings good news for us all!

Which schools similar in status to Cornell increased dramatically?

pitt reportedly interviewed 200 more applicants this year

Vanderbilt interviewed 758 applicants this year and usually interviews closer to 550 applicants per year.
Oh ok. I have not seen last years' threads, but given that Cornell is continuing to send IIs, maybe they are interviewing more. Good luck to all.

Definitely a possibility! I’m just being neurotic as decision day gets closer haha good luck to everyone!

I’m lucky enough to be accepted to 3 other schools, but Cornell is my top choice!! I have a 504 MCAT though :/ I know it’s kind of embarrassing to even ask, do you think I have a chance at an interview?

Although I can’t speak for the admissions, I think getting accepted to 3 schools is a big accomplishment and it speaks for yourself. MCAT is only one aspect of the application, and i do believe you have other qualities that shine. So don’t lose hope, they might get to you soon.

Hey guys! Cornell is a dream school of mine and wanted to ask if you guys think I have a realistic chance of getting in next cycle? I'm ORM

Your publications seem pretty impressive! It could be good to post this in the "What Are My Chances?" forum as well to get more applicable responses

Why

Should we take March 12th as gospel or can we unnecessarily speculate about this Friday (and every consecutive day thereon after)?

We are premeds, let's show some pride and unnecessarily speculate until it happens.

My bet is on Friday 3/12, but let's start the bidding on Friday 3/5

I hate myself for saying this, but I feel like it might come 3/19 because it seems they are still interviewing this week and when someone called earlier in this thread they said some more interviews might go out? 3/19 also lets them stick to their "mid-March" deadline. Hope I'm wrong 🙈

supposedly med schools have to give first round of offers by march 15? at least that’s what someone said on the columbia thread on monday

Well - mid could mean anywhere from 2nd through 30th. So, why could it not be today? 😜

Oh dang! If that is true, that's a really good policy. Hoping for next Friday then 🙂
Yes found this in aamc website "By March 15 of the matriculation year, issue a number of acceptance offers at least equal to the expected number of students in its first-year entering class and report those acceptance actions to AMCAS."

Awesome! Thank you for linking this 🙂

good luck w that; admin sucks at communicating; last year on the last day, the person on the phone even said it "was possible" we would have to wait until after the weekend even though it was released later that evening
Do they release As, WLs, and Rs - all the same date / time?

Was there a lot of WL movement last year? I feel like this year with the COA scholarships fewer people will be moved off the WL

Is Cornell giving full rides this year?
