Hey everybody - looking for some support. I've received one invite that I am really excited about, but received 4 official rejections and have seen 4 sites send out invites that I haven't heard from (although still mildly hopeful that Charleston is doing their invites on a rolling basis). I still have 6 more to hear from, but some of those sites are incredibly competitive and I am feeling pessimistic about this whole process. Is anyone else in a similar boat, or any words of wisdom?

Similar position for me. I have four rejections and no interviews right now. I applied to 18 and now I am beginning to think that my sites are too competitive for me. The rolling basis thing is real, so don't give up on that yet! I know of a few people who only had one or two interviews in previous years and still matched. It is of course not ideal and stressful, but you're in this and there is hope! Here to talk more if you want. Good luck

I’m sorry to hear this process has been hard for you, but you’re definitely not alone. Pessimistic thoughts are common among myself and my friends. I know it’s really easy to be pessimistic with this process, but know that it’s truly not over until match day (and even then there’s Phase II). A few years back someone in my program applied to 15 sites and received one interview. They ranked that program and ended up matching! Don’t lose hope just yet!

I am also waiting on Charleston but I am expecting a rejection based on their invites the last two years

In a similar position (1 interview, 4 rejections, 4 TBA) and it's super frustrating given all the work we've done over the past 4+ years. I just remind myself that you can only match one place so one interview is enough. Sites only interview you if they are really serious about you and historically plenty of people match with only 1 or 2 interviews.

You are absolutely not alone. First, I am so happy for you and the invite you received! Even with an invite, it is so difficult not to focus on the rejections and/or the ones you haven't heard from yet. I agree with others - a lot (probably most) sites to interview invites on a rolling basis or just as they get through chunks of apps at a time. As far as the rejections go, someone that went through this process a few years ago told me "rejection is protection" and you will (one way or another) match to a great site that will give you great training. You were good enough to get into a doctoral level program and make it all the way to this phase. You are good enough to match, too. Keeping my fingers crossed that those 10 other sites have good news for you. Give yourself credit here. Hang in there, friend.

I am in a similar boat! I started off with 2 invites and was feeling positive but I have now received a string of 4 rejections in a row. After not matching last year I can’t help but feel somewhat crummy. I added a lot to my CV this year and felt like I would be a strong candidate but now my confidence is starting to dwindle.

As hard as it is, I think the best thing to do is to not lose hope and to recognize that just because you get rejections, it does not mean you are not qualified or worthy!

Hang in there. I am a few years out now, but during my season, I got mostly invites right away, and then a bunch of rejections. A cohortmate got the exact same number of invites, but she got mostly rejections first, and then a bunch of invites. We actually had a ton of site overlap, and they mostly chose one or the other of us to invite.

I know it's trite, but you only need one! Keep you head up.

Congrats! I see that the neuro track offers were extended, and they also sent out rejection emails. Has anyone else not gotten either?

UCLA rejection just now (11/29 around 1130am)
Did not specify tracks, but I applied to several neuro ones.
Email noted they are 'nearing completion of review of applicants', so there may be hope yet, for those who have not received a formal rejection letter.

I could not update the sheet with this info, as there were too many people accessing it at the moment!

Thank you! It almost looks like from the spreadsheet that neuro hasn't sent rejections (could be wrong) but I wouldn't give up hope!! Hoping you get good news soon 🙂

Has anyone heard anything from the D.C. VA since 11/24?

Now I have two interviews back to back, so glad these are virtual or I'd be sleeping on an Amtrack the night before this interview

Does anyone know if Baylor COM/Texas Children's Hospital or Mailman Center for Child Development are doing rolling invites?

Well that's stressy and depressy for me haha

I had a similar reaction to seeing invitations go out at a different VA this week, ugh, but I had to say your comment was the best thing I've read throughout this whole process! 😆 Hope you match to a great site!
😂 just trying to ease my existential dread during this process. Thank you! Hope you match where your heart desires!

Has anyone received a rejection from Texas Child Study Center? Their notification deadline was yesterday and their first interview is today. However, I have not heard either way. I wonder if the email (with either invite or rejection) somehow got "lost" on its way.

I'm in the same boat. I reached out to them to ask since the deadline passed but have not gotten a response

Wondering if this has happened to anyone else. I received an invitation for an interview last week, accepted, and received confirmation of my interview date yesterday. Then today, I received a "dear applicant" email saying I had not been recommended for an interview. I only applied to one track at the site, so there is no way I was invited to one track and not another. I know the second email could have been sent in error, but with the amount of stress right now I am naturally assuming the worst. Has anyone else had this happen?
