does anyone know if Jan interviews are basically for the waitlist? looking back on past threads it seems to be the case but idk if results being pushed to march this year changes things

I don’t think anyone here has the answer to that -it’ll be all speculation. You could try calling and see what the admissions team may say.

Their admission timeline page states that "Einstein begins notifying accepted MD program applicants" on March 1st.

I would imagine to fill up their WL in case applicants decide to withdraw for more prestigious schools. However, I think its best practice to be honest with candidates if they are interviewing for a WL spot.

More than enough deferrals (for legit reasons) from interviews to do that. Idk who started circulating this, but it’s especially not true considering they don’t even do rolling admissions

Not sure if they stated any exact date, just that it would be later than last year as they are interviewing a lot more people than last year.

I doubt this, the class is slightly smaller (used to be ~180, now is about 160)

Einstein has historically had a long long waitlist with a lot of movement, I assume they are going to do the same and only slowly take of the list as I sort of doubt people will pass up free tuition easily

Just finished my interview here. It was super super chill. The doctor that interviewed me was very nice and asked me the basic “why medicine” questions and couple questions about my application in general. I wouldn’t stress too much about this interview. Just be yourself and be able to talk about why you want to be a physician. Good luck to everyone!!

I am sure the WL will be longer this year, but past years (based on MSAR) doesn't seem too long of a WL compared to other NY schools

not really sure if MSAR is that accurate, Einstein has historically had a few kinds of WLs (high priority, waitlist, some other term for a potential third list) -- not clear to me how many are reported

If einstein is your first choice, tell them, if it's not I wouldn't lie to say so.
that said, if you have something to add to your application (new pub, relevant experience) and want to reiterate your interest, send an email!
