One of the prompts is the following: "Sometimes the Admissions Committee has questions about an applicant’s MCAT score or GPA. Please use this space to discuss any insight you have into your past performance as well as lessons learned to improve future performance." Is this space intended for explaining any discrepancies in our academic statistics? If we do not have anything to clarify, is it acceptable to simply put "N/A" for this part? Thank you in advance!

To me it seemed like they wanted you to say something regardless since it's worded different than other prompts about that. So even though my MCAT and GPA are good, I talked about when I got a B in ochem and what I learned from that.

But I could be totally wrong I'm just guessing

Thank you for your response! I emailed the admissions, and they said we can put N/A if we have nothing to share.

Where does this one appear in relation to the other ones listed by @bold-and-brash- ?

I’m OOS but no ties, should I even submit secondary
USC Greenville is relatively friendly to out-of-state applicants. According to their FAQ page, "We accept out-of-state applicants, and about 30 percent of each class hails from outside of South Carolina."

I also read they only consider if an applicant has ties to SC though

Where did you read this? Can you send the link?

I saw a comment from a USC Greenville thread a few years ago, where a matriculant said most people have some kind of tie but there were a few accepted without any ties? I don't know. I'm confused on if I should send it.

shoot, I may have been looking at USC Columbia since the websites are so similar. But I could've sworn I saw it. If there's nothing about needing a tie, then I think we should apply.

Yeah, I made the same mistake lol. USC Columbia is way more strict about ties. That being said, I do think the chances of us getting interviewed/accepted at USC Greenville still might be significantly lower than those with residency/ties. I emailed the admissions office and asked just in case, so we'll see tomorrow hopefully! I don't want to write such a long secondary if my chances are abysmal.

Thanks so much for emailing them! Please do lmk what they say, bc, ya me either lmao

Do you get a confirmation email from Greenville after submitting?

Has anyone simply submitted N/A to all three of the first prompts? I truthfully don't have any activities to talk about that I did not include on my AMCAS, but I am worried putting N/A to these appears lazy and would be damaging to my application. Does anyone have any input?

Yes I put NA for 2/3 of those because nothing had changed

I wrote about an experience I plan to begin for 1, and then answered N/A to 2 and 3.

did y'all use up all of the character counts?? they are soooo long and i don't want to sound too wordy. i'm not sure if they are there just to not limit us or if they're there because they actually want us to include that many details

I may be in the minority, but I always try to use as many characters/words that I need to adequately tell my story or address the question. ADCOMs, like anyone else reading an essay, can certainly tell when people are just adding filler to their essays.

How long did it take to receive secondaries for this school? I submitted my verified primary last week, and have yet to receive a secondary.

For Question 2: If you are not accepted to medical school for the upcoming academic year, what are your plans?

I'm confused. I'm a reapplicant so is it asking about the 2024-2025 year or what I'll do in 2025-2026 if I don't get in? There's other questions asking what we'll be doing too so I'm confused.

FYI, Greenville was impacted by the hurricane and USC SOM Greenville has canceled didactic classes this week. Definitely best for us to be patient with the admissions process as they work through the aftermath. Hoping everyone in Greenville is okay!!
they postponed my interview that was supposed to be tomorrow fyi
