2025-2026 Wayne State

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So is the new pattern the third thursday of every month?

Does anyone know whether Wayne takes letter of intent? I'm seeing mixed things. They only explicitly state "up to 5 updates" in the portal, but I have seen that people have sent intent in the past. Thanks!

So many people got waitlisted yesterday according to admit
Yeah, I think yesterday was the first day of people getting waitlisted overall. I mean, a majority of people had their interviews for this school. So, I think it is the first day they actually acknowledged waitlist. Very different compared to last cycle, imo.

very different in what sense?

Like I have noticed, through looking at various sources like cycletrack or admit, that the first day they acknowledged waitlist last year was Oct.16th and that was interspersed with admissions. This time around, I think they have been doing strictly acceptances and rejections so far. Yesterday, I believe, was the first day that they acknowledged waitlists (I'm getting this impression by looking at this forum thread, as well as cycletrack and admit).

yeah that's true I also noticed from their website that they only gave 47 new admission offers yesterday.

I email them about letter of interest yesterday and they told me yes, they accept and to upload it in the portal

From reading past forums, asides from last years cycle where they had to offer less seats, they pull of the waitlist regularly. In years past it seems like waitlist movement was a normal thing. It’s already been different this cycle so I might be wrong, but hopefully that’s a good sign.

I am interviewing in few weeks and was wondering if anyone can share their experience, if it was conversational, and if the questions like standard interview questions. Very excited for it!

So.. is this school done with interviews? App complete 08/31

Standard MMI and interview questions. I guess it could depend on your interviewers but both my faculty and med student were very chill and conversational. I could tell the faculty actually at least glanced at my application so that was nice too.

I would say practice MMI questions if you haven’t, know your application, and just try to relax and be yourself for the one-on-one interviews.

They do. It is listed in their policy on the website:

I know many factors go into med school admissions and nothing is guaranteed, but haven't gotten an II yet and was really hoping to 🙁 All of my other IS applicants friends irl have gotten an II and I'm starting to lose hope...do I still have a chance?

Comparison is the thief of joy, stay positive!

Thanks! Would you say the MMI questions were normal or was there any difficult ones?

Do they send IIs out all at one time or do they come in throughout the day usually?

OOS II! I was not expecting this at all, considering they seem to be almost done sending them out.

Yes pretty normal, can’t say much more. I would practice common MMI questions you find online. I would also recommend timing yourself to know if you need to expand your answers more or be faster.

quick question for any current students -- it looks like the curriculum is ~1.5yr preclinical. does this not allow for a summer research opportunity between M1/M2? if not, do students typically conduct research throughout the academic year? just asking since i was interested in having a dedicated few weeks for such programs. TIA!

"summer" between M1/M2 in march is about 2 weeks off. but once you are an M2, you leave in December for winter break and dont come back until march for rotations. Many students will take STEP a month early in February or even January if you're feeling bold- and use those extra months for research or travel. The time from leaving for winter break and coming back in March is yours to self-study

HI! Question for those who have interviewed, during the MMI portion, will we be allowed to have scratch paper to jot down notes during the prep portion of the MMI? Or is that not going to be allowed?

We were told on my interview day that it is allowed but you will not need to because they’re quick prompts

Unless you have anxiety like me and can’t remember anything because your brain was moving to fast to remember the prompt, in which case the little notes were helpful to me

Let's see how I fee,l they might come in handy lol

The Interview Portal on AMP is still not showing the completion of the faculty and student interviews and it's been over 24 hrs now. Anyone having the same thing or should I email them?

That’s what I’m tryna find out 😭
Mine was 10 days from interview to waitlist. Pretty quick turnaround for me but seems like others are experiencing longer times

I hope you hear back the good news soon 🙂 How long do they take to send decisions after interviewing?
Mine was 7 days from interview day and they accepted me I think it truly varies! (OOS, no ties)

Recently received an II and scheduled for 01/30. I’m a little nervous as in last years thread people were saying any interview after thanksgiving is an automatic waitlist. As people hear back, I would appreciate some insight!

hoping that's not the case this year
