I need help finalizing my school list. I will be a re-applicant. Non-traditional. URM. This time, I plan to apply MD & DO. I will be a recent NY resident (July/August), so I won't be eligible IS anywhere. OOS friendly suggestions please. I'm willing to live anywhere, as long as I get to be a doctor. I've lived all over (South, Midwest, Northeast).

3.4 undergrad gpa (sciences) ivy school; 3.8 masters gpa (sciences).
505 MCAT (re-taking in June).
~10 publications in peer-reviewed science journals

Please do not suggest Howard/Morehouse. They are not the most LGBTQ+ friendly in terms of students or admissions. Also, I did not have a pleasant experience at Quinnipiac, so no there too.

I'm improving my app by re-taking the MCAT (studying hard), and getting more clinical experience (8hrs/week).

Thanks in advance!

Any admissions advice is also greatly appreciated...such as @gyngyn

I would add Drexel & Tufts MD and PCOM DO. You will likely be accepted to a few DO schools, MD is more of a gamble but I think you will have some options. Good luck!

African American (deep south).
Any good advisor would recommend the HBCU-affiliated medical schools as well as as your state publics.
At least a few regional private schools where your MCAT is at or above the 10th percentile are also good choices.

10 publications? That's insane. Assuming your retake is 510+ you should be golden for any school even with a slightly lower GPA, and being URM will definitely help.
