Hey everyone,

Just took my first scored FL and got a 502 on the free NS 1 exam. I've been studying for about ~3weeks now and just wondering if this score is representative of the real MCAT at all and if i'm at a good spot for my Jan 18th MCAT test date.

Score breakdown:
Chem:125 (30/59 50.85%)
CARS:124 (29/53 54.72%)
Bio:126 (37/59 62.7%)
Psych/Soc(38/59 64.41%)

Thank you all.

The most important thing is to review the test and learn from what you missed. The practice tests are hit or miss other than the AAMC scored tests. Being on track may also depend on the target score you're aiming for.

I see, how exactly would you recommend reviewing? Any tips?

For each full length test, I spent double the time reviewing. I would re-read every passage, review every problem, and make notes of any concepts that I didn't understand. I would also post a lot of questions on here if I didn't understand a question or answer given. Even if I got a question right, I made sure that I was using the correct reasoning and also knew why the incorrect answers were wrong.

I would usually aim to review 2 sections / day which would take about 6-7 hours each day. You could split this up though depending on your other commitments.

So you took 1 day to take the test and 2 days to review? Did you take any days to do more practice Passages in a weak area? Also during a typical week once you started FL's what was your schedule like?

I actually broke up the way I took my tests so that I would only take a 1/2 length each day. For example, on Monday I would take the C/P and CARS sections timed. Then I would take a lunch break, and then either do some practice passages / content review. On Tuesday, I would do the same and finish B/B and P/S. On Wednesday and Thursday I would review my test sections. On Friday I would either do more practice passages / content review or start the cycle over again.

I broke up my tests because taking a full length test (8+ hours!?) is really exhausting, boring, and not really something I ever looked forward to doing. I would wake up kind of dreading the long day ahead. But I would be more motivated to get through only 3ish hours of testing and a mix of practice / review. It helped me to keep my motivation and focus.

On the real test you'll have a 30 minute break between the sections so it's kind of like taking two 1/2 tests anyways.

Interesting, I have a couple questions if you don't mind.

How many practice tests did you take under the full 8 hour conditions?

After your lunch break, what directed your choice of practice passages? Since you did not review your sections until Wed and Th

My first full-length and my real test 🙂 I thought that maintaining study endurance was more important than simulating a brutal 8 hour exam. On the real day I didn't have trouble powering through since I was used to studying for long periods anyway. For anyone that can take a full-length (8 hours) and wake up motivated to go right into reviewing it the next day... props to them.

It depended on what I felt like I needed to improve upon. Sometimes more verbal, or sometimes more science stuff. I also would sometimes just review content or begin reviewing my exam sections.

That's trippy! Haha

Thanks for the feedback 🙂
