Also, for the hours, is it total to date? Or including expected? On top of that, do we basically have to fill in hours per week? I was full time over the summer for some activities, but only 5-10 hours per week during the school year. My hours per week comes out to about 10 though... Should i just list it as 10?

You do not have to fill in anything for the weekly or total hours. There is no star beside it, hence it is not mandatory. However, I would suggest that if something was long term, you put the hours so that you portray your dedication. Also, the hours are hours up to date, and not expected hours. If you are not sure on average, how many hours you did the activity per week, just approximate total hours based on how long you have been involved and leave it at that. Schools will look at the quality, and not so much the quantity of the activity. Hence, why you are not required to put hours after all.

Mine still says receipt too.

Also, where are you guys seeing your GPA? I can't find mine anywhere, and I'm verified.
Called them, and they said we won't be able to see it until after applications are released.

Some people are asking about categorizing their activities in the EC section... I'm not seeing any dropdown bar that i can choose, unlike AMCAS... Is anyone else?
There are no categories for AACOMAS.

Thanks a lot! I have always planned on having total hours, but wasn't sure about the average weekly.

When do we send in LORs? As soon as they're available, or do we need to wait until after receiving secondaries?

What is the earliest date that the primary app gets transmitted to schools? According to AMCAS, it's around the 27th of June. Is this the same case for AACOMAS?

Really? So even if you're fully verified, everything is finished, you've hit submit...schools still don't get your application until late June?

I just started "processing" today, and thought I was going to be far behind the curve...if it takes 3 weeks or so, I'll still be pretty early....no?

Ok so I got a question.

I just had my university send my transcript to AACOMAS! When do I get that green check mark? Will my transcript be visible when they get it? How do I know they got it?

It will probably take a couple weeks. Basically it will say processing when they initially get it, then received when its in their system, then verified when it is ready to be sent out to schools.

So it will be a couple weeks until I can apply to schools then?

Yea since I dont think you can submit until the transcripts are at least in the processing stage. It depends how fast your school is at getting the transcripts out and how fast they get to AACOMAS. They will likely have a nice big pile of transcripts to get through... But I am not 100% sure on that one.

yes, your right. You cannot submit the application until all transcripts are received by AACOMAS.

I called up my school and they said they mailed it to AACOMAS today so I hope they receive it soon. Thanks guys!

The earliest is the third week of June.

I had some spacing issues and edited my PS , but I would like to know if AACOMAS will receive these changes even after I submit

What if our prefix for our courses doesn't fully fit with the course number as well? Should I just put in as much as i can?

For example:

African American Studies 101.01 would be AMFMAST101.01 but it would only allow me to fill in AMFM101.01. Advice?

Also, what has everyone been putting in the course name area? It's not clear in the instructions.

What is the first date that verified applications will be submitted to individual schools from AACOMAS?

My app got returned saying "undelivered". They want me to convert all my quarter hours into semester hours...it thought I said that they were quarter hours. Why should I have to convert them...?
I had to do that last cycle. I think their GPA calculator is based on semester hours, so you have to do the conversion for them.

Your AACOMAS application has been verified and will be released to the colleges in the third week of June. Please note, the colleges have varying schedules for downloading and acting upon applications.

If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact us via email or telephone.

Thank you.

It will not let me indent the first paragraph of personal statement, anyone else having this problem?

I had this problem, so I ended up just putting spaces between each paragraph to differentiate them instead of indenting each one.

No, it is to my understanding that after your application is verified you cannot edit any of the information.

You actually can edit it in AACOMAS. I am verified, and still have the ability to edit my personal statement. I do not think that AMCAS will allow you to edit your personal statement after submitting the app.

Oh, good to know. I've been working diligently to edit and revise my personal statement, and it's nice to know that if I spot an error or something I want to correct later that it can be updated. Thanks.

My application has been verified and sent to schools - still not able to find a GPA. Any ideas? I'm able to view the same PDF file of my application as before but a GPA isn't listed

Under the application tab, go to colleges and course works it should give you the estimates.

Are you sure your application is sent to schools? The earliest it is sent is the third week of June. Also, if it was sent to schools you have access to a PDF file beside each school, giving you an overview of your courses, course deficiencies according to the school, etc... If you don't see that, then it is probably not released to schools yet and this is likely the case atm.

One question I have though, is that when you click on "colleges and coursework" (where you cannot make any changes after submitting) and if everything has remained the same since you have submitted, is it likely that AACOMAS has not made any changes to your GPA or course labels? Or do the changes applied by aacomas appear?

On the home screen next to each school it changed the status from "submitted to aacomas" to "released 6/14." There is also a "view" link next to each school next to the "receipt" link, but the link is broken and just refreshes the web page, I'm assuming this is where you would see the GPA?

I see, interesting. Yes, that is where you would see all the information. Maybe contact aacomas and let them know about the technical difficulty you are having. Hope my application gets released soon as well 🙂

Mine now says the same and the receipt link is not working for me too, I am thinking it is a glitch but let me know if you can see gpa

I had the same status as being released now I am not able to see the gpa or final app I am thinking maybe it is a glitch and will be fixed

Mine now also says released 6/14 with a view button that just refreshes the home screen. I believe this glitch will be solved in the third week of June lol.

So, I'm a Texas resident, and I applied via TMDSAS back in 2012. Well, I'm applying to schools again this year, but I'm definitely broadening my horizons. With that said, I definitely don't have much experience in AMCAS nor AACOMAS, so...questions! Quick note: I'm just finishing with TMDSAS currently, so I haven't started the AACOMAS app yet.

Is there a bad time to submit the AACOMAS app? Like "After insert month here '14/'15, you won't get any IIs?" I realize that most of the deadlines for schools not named TCOM have deadlines on their primaries after the new year, but still.

I'm fairly certain my family and I will qualify for the application fee waiver. For the waiver, exactly how much would an application be, afterwards? Without the waiver status, it's $195 for the first college application + $35 for each school after that, with it being $50 for each school after the application is already submitted. Where does the fee waiver come into effect? I tried searching for it online, and got helpful information, but no real numbers.

I would consider august to be early enough at all the schools. That said, your stats also play a role into this. A 3.5/32 will be able to get a decent number of interviews even if submitted in Nov/Dec. Short answer for that: apply as early as you can.
I believe aacomas gives you 45 days to submit after receiving the fee waiver (someone correct me if I'm wrong). You'll be charged 35/school after the first 3 schools. So if you submit to 5 schools, the fee waiver will cover and you'll pay 70.

Oh, so the $195 is also waived? That's good to know.

Anyone aware of what the earning level is, to qualify? I only think I'm qualified, because I qualified for the MCAT FAP. But the FAP was only 300% "or less of the poverty level. Again, tried looking at the fee waiver site (http://www.aacom.org/infofor/applicants/pages/FeeWaiver.aspx) but that didn't give me much info. Only, "As a rough guide, you may wish to apply for a fee waiver if your annual income level is within the U.S. Bureau of Census' low-income threshold for your family's size."

Anyway, thanks, rzoo!

how do you select schools? I'm having trouble selecting schools...there isn't like MSAR for DO schools which makes it very hard to do.
My stats: I've 3.83 non-science AAMCOMAS gpa and 3.74 science AAMCOMAS gpa in Top 20 school. I'm waiting for mcat result from June 5th. First try 11/4/11. Hopefully verbal score raises this time.
I'm done with my DO app except picking schools. Can someone help with picking schools like any criteria? Thanks!

The CIB has alot of info for every school. You'll have to deicide on your own criteria based on your preferences. Location, cost of attendance, clinical education, stats, mission, match list, etc. Look up the schools in the CIB then go into the school specific thread for each school you're interested in to get a perspective of the school.
