I interviewed for the GEP program so I didn't experience the 5/6 year program interview, however pretty much everyone else there at the same time was coming straight out of high school and they all came out of their sessions smiling. Just relax and be yourself. 🙂 Oh, and if you can keep the blood flowing to your hands that would be great because mine were ice cold by the end and I felt really bad when I went to shake their hands with an icicle! Hey guys,
My interview was on the 4th, I'm from Toronto with 92% average
I did poorly in mine, it was harsh not so friendly, they asked me weird questions about research and what challenges faces research facilities today??!!! I had no clue what the answer should be🙁
They weren't interested to hear about me or about my medical experiences in my resume, they didn't ask me why medical, and they never ask about my financial??!!!
Do u think I'm out 😡
Anyone has the same disappointed interview :scared:

Were you interviewing for GEP?

Relax, there's no point stressing about it now (at least that's what I keep telling myself). You did what you could, and whatever will be, will be. :luck:

It's totally normal to stress about these things. It's not unheard of, either, for interviewers to push you with difficult questions to, in part, gauge how you respond to a potentially stressful situation. You're not expected to be an expert on medical research. They've got your application where you've probably laid out all your experiences, so I wouldn't stress too much about them not asking about that, either.

There are things in the life that we control, and things that we do not control, such as weather, and the "past".
Your interview falls in the "past" category, so it is out of your control. If you think that it did not go well, then focus your energy on an alternate plan for the time being. Please, do not beat yourself up, it is painful and would not do you any good.

He asked me if I like rugby, he asked me about my favorite team, then asked me how I would feel to live alone, was laughing when I told him it would be a dream come true, that was bout it basically, nothing in my resume, personal statement, nothing at all, was that an interview😕

My question to u guys was, had any of you experienced or heard about something like that before?.
Anyone one had a challenging question like mine which they would need an expert to answer it?

And, am I the only one who is sharing my interview experience so far?
How about you guys, can you share yours please?? :🙄

He was probably trying to gauge whether or not you would be happy/suitable living in Ireland for 5/6 years. Your answer that it would be a dream come true isn't necessarily bad, maybe his laugh was a good laugh, that he found it funny you would dream to live alone. Either way, don't worry about it, if you prepared for the interview the best you could, there is nothing else you can do about it.
 
Does anybody know when the ABP sends out acceptance letters for RCSI 2013 entry?
 
Don't stress about the interview, if you made it to an interview they were seroiusly considering you. Do you remember who your interviewer was?

No I don't, it was an Irish prof.
 
interview on the 4th. For 5/6 year program. Was asked why I want to be a dr, why ireland, how I will pay, if my mom will miss me and my strengths and weaknesses. It was Mr Curtis. He was very very nice. He laughed when I said sports dosent like me. He said Golf dosent like him either! He told me all about the program, talked a lot about my volunteer work in pharmacy, and asked me what other schools I had applied to. Also what my back up plan was and where in Ontario I had applied and had I got in to my first choice. I told him the back up plan was to stay in Ontario.

Can you please post as soon as you hear back? Perhaps we should call FedEx next week to see if anything is on its way....nerves are going to be shot pretty soon.

The ABP rep at the interview said that Dr.Winser and Mr.Curtis were travelling back to Ireland last Saturday from Vancouver to work on the offers this week, then the offers would be sent to ABP to send out. Hence, I would think that some time next week, offers will start to trickle out.

Anyone knows how many students were interviewed versus the number of seat offered to North American students?
Also, if the interviewer did not take notes during the interview, is this an indication of any thing?

I read somewhere that there are 250 spots offered to NA students...but that includes all medical programs 4/5/6 and all schools. The ABP rep said they were interviewing 60 students for the 5/6 program. Not sure if that was just for Canada. What are your stats?

Flavia mentioned that once you get an interview, it's about 50/50. The numbers might be different for GEP vs 5/6yr though.
 
Yeah I was in Van on Saturday as well (RCSI GEP 2013 applicant.) 50/50 seems a bit high after interview by my calculations seems a bit high. If theres 30 international seats available for 4th yr GEP, they interview 30 from new york, toronto, and vancouver, each, then pick 10 from each. so 1/3 chance. But like Jon Snow I know nothing.

Best of luck - hopefully we all get to pay 100k/year :S.
 
Wow I like your logic much better, 70% is much better that 33.

ABP has also stated (to me at least) that there will be a second round of interviews this year.
 
No specific date besides spring, and they assured adequate forewarning. really hoping I get invited this time..

At my interview, I was told that if RCSI accepts you, then until you have declined the other universities do not offer you a place. Some sort of ranking system? Can anyone explain. I dont even remember ranking the universities....I think I just said all....but RCSI is my first choice though.
 
Someone had mentioned this to me before. That there might be some sort of point system involved.Getting accepted at one school might put you at disadvantage to the other.

However after you get your acceptance, ABP might ask you if you would still like to be considered to the other schools.

Not sure about the validity of this claim though as I had another friend who was successful is securing 3 acceptances (RCSI, UCD, UCC) for the GEP program last year.
 
I did not. I'm a 5 year applicant w/ bachelor's, no MCAT. US/Irish citizen.

Maybe he was applying for the GEP? As Mr Curtis clearly told me that the only way the other schools would offer me a place was if I either was rejected by RCSI, waitlisted by RCSI or I rejected RCSI. The time line to accept/reject RCSI is short so that makes sense. There wouldnt be enough time to have multiple universities to consider (in my dreams btw 😀). OK guys, we just gotta wait. :scared:

Thank you very much for sharing that. That now makes sense and it means that RCSI will be quick in issuing round 1 offers.

Does anyone know if the second interview "if any" will offer to the same candidates who didn't pass the border line of the first interview to give them a second chance, or are they going to invite new candidate who didn't meet their requirement for the first interview??

Or, are they going to accept everyone who was invited to the interview but they still have empty spots to fill because of dropped/withdrawal applications which make more room for more (that would be my best hope 😍)

Here is my understanding based on reviewing the old postings, so I could be wrong:
The outcome of the interview is: acceptance (hopefully), wait list (not likely since there is a second round of interviews being called meaning they have not filled the class yet), or rejection (let's hope not). I do not believe that there is a second chance type of interview.
 
Has anybody called fedex to see if a package has been delivered to their house? Im going to call atlantic bridge tomorrow and see whats up. I have a few questions for them

I'm gonna ask them about multiple requests to see how the procedure is. I will also ask when to expect the answers because last year they arrived today. But the interview was also about a week earlier

Great, please keep us posted. I was going to do the same, but no point if you are going to do it. ABP does not disclose decisions over the phone, so whatever they tell you, will be generic.

I'm also gonna ask what I can do to improve my application for future purposes
 
i just called ABP. They said RCSI offers are being mailed after St Patricks day. Have a nice weekend everyone!
 
Does anyone have a discrepancy in their credit card statement? I think I might have...
