Hey peeps, just about to submit my application, but I wanted to go over the section of AADSAS regarding academic probation. I received 2 F's, 1 D, and an A- during one semester, leaving me with a 1.67 semester GPA. From here I was placed on academic probation, and it is listed on my transcript. I was able to finish off strong with several dean's list and even a president's list honors while taking 15+ credits of upper division biology courses.
What is the best way to explain this turn around? It was lack of maturity and dedication, but do I just say that straight up? Obviously I made a complete 180 in terms of academic performance, but what is the best way to answer this question?

Thanks in advance

Just be honest about it. I explained how I ended up in the situation, what the probationary action entailed (at my school I had to meet with an advisor every few weeks) and how I grew from the experience. Good luck!

I have the same dilemma as you. I have two quarters of 0.00 GPA last year and was almost expelled but they decided to give me a last chance.

What I did this quarter was I requested three letter of recs from professors and they all were very impressed with my huge turnaround and my new work ethics and they all agreed to write me strong letters of recs explaining how I overcame the academic challenges. Not sure if that helps but I think you can try that as well. Good luck to both of us!
