Whew! What a day for the postman to be 3 hours late!!! When he finally arrived, I pounced on him and asked him if he had any mail for Box #15. He gave me the letter and I opened it right in front of him and I started screaming and crying when I saw the good news.
It has definitely been an emotional roller coaster. You see I am 41 years old, the mother of a 10 year old son and 9 year old twin boys and this was my first application to CSU. I got my bachleor's degree in Textiles, my masters degree in nonwovens engineering and then I was a stay-home mom for 7 years. I like to think that I found my purpose in life, to become an anatomic pathologist at the age of 38. It was very scary returning to school after such a long break, family obligations, 5 knee surgeries and a serious case of Lyme Disease. I have never been so happy in my life and if veterinary medicine is the path you seek, it can be attained no matter what your age.
Congrats to everyone on getting in. If you did not get in, please do not give up!!! Focus on your strengths and what sets you apart and NEVER GIVE UP!

I had my mailing address set as my school address, and since I'm home on holiday break, I am hoping that it's just slow because I am having my mail forwarded from my school apt to my house. If not, I am sure that you and I will hear from them mid-Feb.

I got into University of Edinburgh!!!! I will now go to the local pub, get wasted, and accidentally knock over Stone Hedge which then I will be tarred and feathered on local display at Buckingham Palace!!!

Congrats, Jaydog! They didn't have a geography component in their interview, did they? Stonehenge is in England. Though they may have stone hedges in Scotland for all I know.

Aha, Stone Hedge is indeed in England.........knowledge is power.......and I have proven that world geography is not my strong point (or just oblivious to architectural monuments outside the US). In my defense, I at least knew Stone Hedge was in the UK, so yeah!!!
Oh and Edinburgh did not even need to interview me. They "conditionally" accepted me as long as I send in my final transcript with B grade or higher in Biochem and Organic II, which I aced both and I am not going to have a good sleep tonight because I have three of my seven Shiba Inu's on my bed (I have twelve dogs at home).

haha jaydog, good job. I got into Edinburgh too and I've been to Stonehenge (one word! and not hedge!) and you would not be able to knock it over by yourself....you may need my help And Stonehenge is a good 10 1/2 hour drive from Edinburgh...hehe...road trip!

His books are hilarious, narrative-style travel books and this particular one is all about the UK. I'm like halfway through it right now and it's really good. (and it's also a quick read if you're busy at the moment).

Tangent of tangent: For those of you headed Down Under (or considering it), I definitely recommend his In A Sunburned Country. I read it when I was studying abroad in Australia, and it was both hilarious and accurate.
