Addressing PE

I think I'm just as excited about this news as I am receiving my first interview invitation....in all seriousness! Now to wait and see when they'll remove it as a licensing requirement for our class...
Literally same! This was probably a bigger stressor than not matching lmao

Today = Osteopathic Christmas

Note that this isn’t even the form for a refund. It’s the form for a fee waiver. Therefore, fill out the parts that you can and leave the rest blank. You are a customer. They must give you a refund on request for a service they can’t provide.
Thank you, where is the refund request form then?

I think I am going to request for a refund at this point as there are no dates available to schedule. Should I just click cancel and then it will create a refund for me?

I highly doubt Gimple will subject himself to another webinar. Ghosting us is much easier.

Honestly I don't blame him. He went against the recommendations of students and colleagues. We shamed him and his crazy organization. And he still lost, the nbome will lose revenue from this, the organization has lost nearly all credibility.

If I were him I'd go with the grain, cash my massive paychecks for as long as possible, and then retire.

As some one planning to practice in FL. I'm laughing thinking about being an intern taking this exam.

"Hello i'm Dr. getfat. No I don't have a preceptor. I'm an actual doctor. What brings you into this fake clinic today?"

Please? Please do this.

Also, that brings up an interesting question. Will those of us taking it during intern year have to go back to saying "student doctor" just because the exam is usually taken by students? Would we lose points for "unethical introduction" for saying Dr. DrRedstone? (DrRedstone is my full last name, in case you were wondering. You see, being a doctor was in my genes.)

I think they told us to say doctor during the real deal.

That's not the way we have been trained for it at my school. Ive never heard of fellow students being told to introduce themselves as Dr. for the PE exam. You act like you are their doc but you don't take the title.
Agreed.

My school emphasized your name, year (4th year medical student) and school.

I could be wrong then. Nothing makes sense with the NBOME. "Go ahead and lie about your title the patients are fake anyways."

My school did this too. I think schools don’t really know a lot about the exam.

Only good news due to this backlog will be a virtually guaranteed 100% pass rate PE for the Class of 2021. Class of 2022 will endure the 89-91% pass rate as seen from the previous year data.
Bahaha you actually think the NBOME is going to try to pass more people to unclog the pipeline lol the more people they fail the more money they make. They don't give a sh** about delaying anyone. That is why they are holding it over our heads as a licensing requirement and requirement to sit for level 3.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

my school definitely told us to introduce ourselves as "Dr. X"

not like it matters now since we wont be taking this until we actually are doctors

What are peoples schools telling them about the PE situation?

I'm a 3rd year but our dean sent out an email today telling us to register for a date between June and December so we can have a score by the time rank lists are due. They also said additional sessions are going to be opened every month, whatever that means. I jumped on a July date a few weeks ago since I'm operating under the assumption that my class will be back on a normal timeline and right now both locations are booked through September.

I'm planning on just telling the truth. It is currently postponed until March at the earliest, I was scheduled for 3 different dates that have since been postponed, and I will make every effort I can to take it prior to starting, but there are no open dates currently through the end of 2021.

Personally, I think they'll be forced to waive it for us. There just isn't a way to clear the backlog

My school told us not to take it before March for safety reasons. This was back in early August i believe. I dont think they really care about it.

I can tell were burned out on this. It's been a week since the last comment

Sadly, now is the time we should be raising the MOST hell. I also never heard - what did LECOM and KCU have to say about all this?
KCU said to talk about it on our interviews as an example of our resiliency. It was in a webinar, so I don't have anything in writing to share.

So if this happens, the Class of 2021 would be free elves and never have to take the PE, right?

Dobby would be a free elf and could take the level 3 without the PE.

I've taken a short break. Many of my Twitter accounts were banned from the nbome page during recent months. Totally worth it.

LECOM hasn't said a thing, which is shocking to be honest.

Lol was this in the interview workshop? I unfortunately missed those shenanigans.

Considering their original position was basically "do everything you can to take it before graduation and if you absolutely can't I guess we'll give you a pass," maybe they feel they don't have to come out with any more statements? I'm scheduled to take it the week of graduation, so I'm really torn rn if I should just cancel it, because I could really use that cash right about now.

Yea, it was the interview workshop. Not terribly useful imo. I canceled it because I was already scheduled so late it was impossible for me to have a passing score prior to graduation. It's nice to have the extra buffer of cash right now xD.
