- before traveling take your temps 2 times a day. One in AM and one in PM. Document it via a pic on your phone. They will be time stamped.

-take your temps while in town taking the PE and 14 days after returning home.

-if you catch it atleast you will have some data to show the lawyers.

Contact tracing is a thing that can be done. If they have one highly infectious SP it would be easy to make a case if the majority or all of the takers at one session fell ill. Make sure to share contacts with your fellow test takers in case anyone comes down with it, would be an easy case for negligence and if anyone were to end up hospitalized it could be a very large settlement indeed
 
I think it’s so widespread at this point that contact tracing just isn’t reliable. I mean we can’t even go after chiros when their patient gets a vertebral artery dissection seconds after their neck gets manipulated because we can’t prove that’s what caused it lol.

No to mention the problem with suing such an obviously self-interested organization. I would fear retaliation in a big way.

Yeah I honestly don't know what to think. Part of me wonders if there even IS a PE filter, because if it's a combined PE/CS filter they likely won't use it.

I haven't heard of this happening to anyone else, does anyone else know someone that had this happened? If so that's bizarre they would do that without announcing it. Although it wouldn't surprise me if they are in full blown crisis mode right now and doing all sorts of shady stuff lol

It's gonna be great. Some volunteer pre-med will sprint into Gimpel's office with a bunch of calculations on a sticky note.

It wasn't in the same fashion people that had prometric exams where they just realized their test date was gone.

I got a call from someone in the clin ed department and they just explained to me that they needed to reschedule my PE due to inability to hold the same number of testers per session.

Honestly I was just shocked i was canceled and the earliest they could schedule me was like may w/ "priority for being rescheduled".

What pisses me off is having to wait until last minute to receive any sort of communication from the NBOME. I understand they are trying to wait it out hoping COVID magically goes away but it is extremely unprofessional to cancel on us last minute. I don't dare book any flight or hotel after being cancelled on three weeks before my April date. This organization is the biggest joke.
 
any word on the nbme possibly blinding CS scores? that is honestly our only realistic hope. But even then the a$$ wipe that is gimpel may choose to still not follow through but the pressure on him to do so would be high as now he cant claim it is violating ERAS policy.

If ERAS or NBME blinds the CS then I think they will have to also blind the PE... or at least we would have an extremely good argument to get them to blind the PE. Part of me wonders if that’s why they haven’t blinded the CS yet... because they know that if they do they will be pretty much forced to blind the PE and Gimpel would **** a brick if they didn’t show residency’s his baby/“the most important board exam for osteopathic physicians”
 
They had better not act like ****ing Heros if they end up having to cancel the PE... I feel like when they put out the announcement that we wouldn’t have to have a passing PE score to graduate they acted like Batman saving Gotham from the Joker when in reality they had no choice because it wasn’t possible to get everyone tested by graduation .... if I ever run into Gimpel at a conference or anything like that I’m going to give him a piece of my mind! Ill tell him right to his face to go **** himself, I don’t care how unprofessional I look.

Another edict that we would have to go against to start the PE back up.
 
How can a physician led organization be so incompetent during a time of public health crisis? This will be the hill the NBOME dies on or at a minimum this will provide the needed support to move to a unified licensing exam led by the NBME. I am confident the NBOME is dug in at this point and will refuse to delay or cancel the exam any further regardless of COVID. I think our only hope is getting major organizations to openly condemn their actions.

this is solid news but is comlex PE considered a large event with only like 24 students being tested at a time, probably less?

It's also worth noting that the test is in Conshohocken, not Philadelphia. While I'm sure conshy kind of follows Philly's lead, still a different town in a different county with different local leadership.

thats all well and good, but pretty sure the 120 west elm st building in conshohocken is privately owned, not in philly, and not subject to these restrictions..

That might be good news because isn’t the organization that administers the podiatry exam the same that does the COMLEX 2 PE? I wonder if the same announcement is coming for us.... i.e. scores not reported in 2021 match

Same people, the NBOME, but the turd muffin CEO seems to be dead set on killing a few DO students this fall.

do they have a different CEO? and how come they are capable of blinding scores if they are under NBOME but we cant? Seems to defy any logic that its "against ERAS policy" although idk what they use to apply

I hope so, but does anyone think it is possible that NBOME successfully bribed JH? Are they just holding out until case numbers get better or get a blessing from the AOA meeting scheduled this coming Friday. Also, why would the podiatry boards send out a letter if JH disapproved?
 
In the latest NBOME PE update from today. They have insisted they are continuing ahead with their current plan. It mentions nothing about 14 day mandatory quarantine (who is paying the 14 day food/ hotel bill nor who will pay our $500 fines for breaking said quarantine, because I sure as hell am not paying for it) and they refuse to entertain the fact that traveling right now is unsafe and beyond reckless behavior putting us, our families, and patients at risk. It is unbelievable the lengths they plan to go in order to make sure this starts on September 1st. We need a new game plan. We cannot give up yet, there has to be some way to go around them? My exam is Sept 1st and I am not taking the chance of not having a test date before Match.

I feel that there is honestly nothing that can be done at this point other than hoping the nbme blinds CS so nbome can hopefully follow suit (although Gimpel is stubborn so even that might not happen)

NBOME giving the go ahead for med students from hospitals around the country (including GLOBAL hotspots such as FL, TX, and CA) to travel to major cities without quarantining and return back to those hospitals immediately after.

Aiming to worsen the current pandemic and potentially kill students, their loved ones, and their community, this is the freakin “DO difference”
 
Just a friendly reminded the “reason” gimple gave for continuing to go ahead when faced with “why not do what the nbmes doing” is that the nbme couldnt test everyone in c/o 2021 in time but the nbome could. Yet we know for a fact there are students in 2021 getting spots for PE so late that they wont have scores by graduation.

This is in addition to the several other lies I mentioned earlier in this thread that the nbome is spreading to cover their bs. The amount of crap this organization spews and just expects us to believe blindly just blows my mind.
