HI, merl, have you got interview invitation from BU yet? I am in the same situation as you are, so please give me an answer.

Thank you Guru, finally I got some answers from this forum! I have to admit that I am all nervous. It seems to me that I am the last one they interview, I worry that I am too late to get the interview.
Do you know anybody get any interview from BU or NYU?

I din't get BU or NYU letter. NYu hasn't started interveiwing, Bu did but its 2batch.

Hi guru how did your interveiws go, when does Bu notify if u are selected?Did u apply to tufts heard anything from them?

leon if u are Green card holder/ us citizen u could appear for part1 if u are 3-4yr dental student elsewhere.

I thought I might have a chance with BU, I got a letter from BU saying that they would notify me if they want me for an interview. I didn't know that they have already interviewed some. So how do I know when they start to apply? I sent out my forms on Sep.30.

I have already interviewed at NYU. I had my interview last week. It went out well and the whole process was over by 12 PM. The results would be announced in December.
I have just recently applied to BU. Could anybody enlighten me about my chances?

hi ,as u have already interviewed in nyu can u give me some tips about the interview, i will be going to nyu 4 the interview next week. what is ur score in ndb part 1.r u working as a dental assistant. bu has a cut off score of 85. i had been to bu in last march.
 
The interview at nyu would be cool. You'd be interviewed the first thing in the morning when you get there by one of the faculty members. After this, you'd be taken on a tour of the school facility (they have a simulation lab on the eleventh floor- very impressive). You'd have your financial aid meeting after that and then lunch at the cafeteria where you'd meet a nyu student. That's about it. It'd get over by 12PM for sure.

When did you submit your application and when did you get notice from NYU for the interview. I submit mine on Sep.30, Was that too late?

It started at 8 AM sharp. They told me to be there at the school by 8. I did have some time to catch up on some coffee and breakfast though.

how many people interviewed you?

Only one. The interview lasted for about 30 minutes.

what did they ask?

They'd ask you just about anything that is asked in a routine interview. Like, why NYU? etc etc......

what about staying in NYC?

It is towards the expensive side. A shared studio would cost you around 10k a year.

If you're asking me about stayin in NYC for the period of the interview. I dunno much abt it. But, you could refer to the predental forum (there's a thread dedicated to the nyu interview). They did mention a 3 star hotel called Marcel ( I believe it would cost you 120 dollars/ day).

if you're askin me about the time period betn sending the letter and receiving a call for interview. It is about 3 weeks. I submitted my application in the first week of sept and received the interview letter by the last week of september.

If you were askin me about when they'd start sending the acceptance letters. They told us that they's start sending letters by december.

hi, mine is 91 and i got 240 in toefl. igt an interview call from nyu.

ihave yet to schedule an appointment 4 nyu.
 
Sorry, shamm, I meant when did you submit your forms and when did they give you an invitation for the interview?

Merl, my interviews went well. At BU ,I was interviewed by a faculty member . I guess it was the second batch of interviews.BU will start sending out letters early Dec. BU might be taking over 60 this year. I believe Tufts is only taking about 12 and right now they are only interviewing for waiting lists. NYU have actually started interviewing.


Tamer, as per the issue of re-examination, your best bet is to find out from ADA.

hi angela, when did u get a acceptance letter from upenn and is this the first time u went to upenn for the interview and what did they they ask u. i will be going to upenn on nov 13th.i think bu is more expensive than upenn.

Angelalee, I actually attended interviews at UPENN, BU, Tufts and NYU , and if I am to choose ,I'll go for Tufts or BU. I am not so keen about this "IVY LEAGUE THING". I am presently on Tufts waiting list. BU is gonna be $140K for the 2years for this year's new intakes and also note that living in Boston is a little more expensive than Philly.

I continually wish everyone luck in their endeavours.

I dont think boston ranks higher than UPENN. Further I ve heard from several people that UPENN is better than BU>
So if I were you, Id just stick to UPENN.
Dental Rankings are not very reliable, they are mostly based on NBDE scores, that is not very good estimate of the colleges according to me. This year, I think Tufts was in 2nd place, and UPenn third or Fourth.
Good luck in deciding though

I was just curious as to what your NBDE scores are.
I got selected at tufts, my scores were, 88 Part1, 91 part2.
I am just wondering if its bcos of ur scores that you are put on hold or bcos u applied a little later than me.
Also, did they tell you what the last year waiting list ratio: to this years fresh students intake is?
I would like to know more about these processes so that I can help my friends who would like to join.

Good news. Wish you the best. The interview at Tufts is pretty much similar to the other places. The intro, tour and then the actual interview. Mine ended by 1 P.M. There was one more guy aside from me.
Relax and yeah on a lighter note, they dont give u anything to eat, so, better stock up before u go to the interview
