Hey all, I will try to make this short and sweet.
I had a .91 gpa my freshmen year (23 hours). I know, brutal. So I stopped attending and worked for a few semesters.
I came back spring 2016.. I needed to get an A in Chem1 to get off probation, among other things.. If I don't get off probation I will have an academic suspension on my record, although I will have summer 2016 to get off suspension before fall. While my chem professor hasn't posted our overall gpa, he has put in all individual grades .
If my math is correct I am at an 89.39!!!!
My fix up is that I earned extra credit points to be added to my 1st exam and my 4th exam. My 4th exam was replaced by my final. I want to inquire about those xc points being transferred to exam1 2 or 3 as this would make up for the .6 difference between me getting an A or getting a B and being put on AS .
I can't take this lying down but I don't know that there is a way to address my professor at this point in the semester without being abnoxious so I figured I would ask y'all how you would approach him!

Should I request an appointment? Email? Just let it be? Wait until he actually lets us know our grades incase my math was slightly off?

I think you're on the right track. I would email the professor and just ask about the extra credit that you mentioned, and if you can meet in person, be honest and let him know about your situation. Professors are people too!

Since nobody else brought this up, please review what happens if you are successful in converting your sub-90 to an A. With everything at stake, you're struggling to meet the requirements set for you to get out of trouble. This isn't a one time thing for you. Yes, it's difficult coursework. Yes, it's a lot of pressure. But it only gets harder from here, and the exact situation you're in right now is waiting for you in about 30 more classes on the way to med school and in med school. It's not going to be any easier to get A's after this go-round, and every grade you get that isn't an A is a step away from med school.

Point being, decide how much of your life you want to spend beating your head against exams and points and expectations like you are right now. It doesn't get easier.

Best of luck to you.

Make an app't and politely inform him/her of your concerns. But please don't go with the "I have an 89 and need an A for my med school app" attitude.
