Think we'll get any word from UAB or South this week?

I'm more frustrated than ever, I can't make plans for next year until I know something. What to do?

Who knows? I heard from some what of an unreliable source (a mom of an applicant) that supposedly some decisions were released a week or two ago. So I am not sure if this is accurate.

Also I bet if there are any acceptances this month it will only happen once, then we have the big wait for the waitlist in March.

Is there a set date for the waitlist release date? Is it March 15th, or did I dream that up?

One of my friends was accepted one week ago to UAB so they did send out acceptances.

Which sucks for me. 🙁

I keep telling myself "Maybe there will be a big wave of acceptances at the end of the interview season". I'm sure it's wishful thinking but I'm trying to stay positive here. Throw me a bone somebody...

and the Old Ball Coach has every play figured out for Spring Practice, every play the team is going to work on.

I'm starting to get frustrated as well. Every day I feel like 6 or 7 people ask me if I've heard anything yet, and it sucks to have to say "nope, still waiting..." every time. My friends are starting to make living arrangements for next year, and it'd be nice to know for sure where I'll be.

Yeah I know how you feel, I work at a hospital and about 5 people a day ask me how it is coming with medical school and then ask me why it is taking so long because didn't I interview like a year ago? (october 11th lol)

Does anyone know how USA lets you know about an acceptance? Do they call you or just send you a paper later in the mail? Also, if they call, how long do they take to call you after they've decided on your acceptance? Thanks! 🙂

Has anyone heard about any other acceptances sent out from UAB recently? Will people who interviewed in February/March likely not hear anything until they release the final decisions in March? Lastly, does anyone know a concrete date when UAB will release its final decisions?

This information would be extremely useful...I called down to USA today and they were having interviews. Not sure what is happening at UAB.

Well sometime this month we'll hear final decisions from UAB! Who is nervous? Does anyone know what their last day for interviews was?

I hope it is this thursday so I can get some resolution to this application cycle.

Not sure about South, but the last day of interviews at UAB will be March 13.

The last day for USA is March 12th. Are they supposed to release final decisions in march as well?

Spoke with Nathan Smith yesterday. 187 or 197 acceptances out (forgot), more decisions next week.

So they'll probably send out more next Thursday once interviews are done? Is that when they will send out all of the final decisions?

I got an interview for USA on March 19th! I don't know if I got a shot of getting in so late in the game, but hey it can't hurt 🙂 .

I checked USA's website it looks like they are supposed to send out all their acceptances on March 15th. Oh well, maybe that is hope for us that they haven't filled their class and needed to add another interview day?

How many total acceptances do they send out? The decisions they send out next week will that be "Final Decisions" or just more acceptances? (Sorry if you don't know but this is what happens when you tempt pre-meds with admissions knowledge 🙂 )

Thanks for the info!

I've had plenty of people PM me. Please stop now.

I did not ask how many acceptances total they will offer.

I do not know for sure if next week will be the final meeting - I thought so, but then read here that the last interview set was Friday.

Hehe thanks anyway 🙂

I just got accepted to UASOM!! Email received at 9:48
congrats.

I didn't read this thread and I sent UASOM an update letter asking if there were any interview dates left.. I didn't know they would be done in just 3 days. I'm guessing I was a little too late with that update.

Thanks and good luck to everyone else still waiting. I honestly can't believe it. I really thought my low MCAT would kill me and I would have to retake.

Congratulations on the acceptance! Go celebrate! To everyone else waiting (including myself), keep your chin up...it's only a matter of time before we hear something.

Has anyone heard anything about scholarships yet?

Received scholarship information just an hour ago or so.

I don't think it had any stipulations except that I attend UAB? I haven't received the fine print yet, just got a notice that I would receive a physical letter and an invitation to attend a second-look.

Does anyone know if they will be giving any more acceptances this month? When will a waitlist be established?

I dug through this thread, and last year at least one person was accepted the Monday after the last interview. That would be this upcoming Monday (3/17).
Then a couple more people were accepted 2 weeks later. Finally, the wait list went up on the status page at the end of March. There's no guarantee they'll follow that pattern, but it at least gives everyone an idea.

Good luck everyone

Hi, you said you had a low mcat score...do u mind sharing with us what it is..so we can know if there is any chance for us..thanks...

Do they still have that stupid (IMHO) stipulation that you have to finish in the top quartile of classes to retain your scholarship?

Actually, for the state board scholarship, you have to stay in the top 1/5th of the class.

And yes, I lost it after the first year 🙂

For anyone who's interested, Match Day was today, and UASOM had a pretty phenomenal class this year. I didn't copy it all down, but some of the highlights were (this is all from my fuzzy memory, might be slightly off) 4 derm, 7 rads, 3-4 ophtho, a good quantity of anes., 8(!) ortho, 3-4 urology, 3-4 neurosx, 4-5 ENT. Don't recall seeing any plastics matches. The split was about 35% primary care, 65% non-primary.

If I don't see someone else post the full set up here in the next few days, I'll try to, but people were all crowded around the printout today so I didn't try. 🙂

Anyone know of any updates/new acceptances this week? I know that UAB (and I think South) is through interviewing...any idea when we'll hear something?

I got into USA on wednesday 🙂!! I interviewed on March 12th. Still haven't heard anything from UAB 😡
