I'm wondering, for those of you who had any rejections to an Optometry school, if you wouldn't mind sharing your stats. I think that would give a lot of people some great insight on what's really going on. Or, maybe just a note saying why you believe it just didn't work out! Thanks in advance!

I got rejected from Berkeley... here are my stats:

OAT

TS 360
AA 360

QR 380
RC 380
Bio 380
Gen Chem 320
OChem 330
Phys 370

Science GPA: 3.24
Overall GPA: 3.44

My personal opinion on why I wasn't extended an interview is because of my science GPA coupled with the fact that I don't have any volunteer experience besides my shadowing with an optometrist. I have scheduled a phone conference with a representative from the admissions department next Friday, though, so I will at least know the exact reason why I was "rejected" and what I can do to make my application stronger.

I also applied to SCCO and Pacific and was extended an interview to both schools.

I imagine acceptance/rejection has to do with more than just this sort of "stats." inquiry. For instance, two candidates might be similar in their G.P.A.s and O.A.T. scores, but one might look much more "well-rounded" on the application (e.g., non-science major; exposure to [and success in] fields such as that of the humanities). Most of these optometry colleges do say they seek applicants who've not only excelled in their "pre-requisites," but have obtained a wealth of knowledge outside their desired profession.

Only applied to ICO and have not heard back from them yet...im assuming thats a rejection. Bringing my GPA up and applying to all the schools asap.

Great job on the O.A.T., but why such a low G.P.A. If there were "extenuating circumstances," a college of eye-medicine might be willing to consider you.
