AMCAS 2005 Submitted/Processed/Verified/Transmitted

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hey CaptainJack02, I don't know why, but your avatar scares me!. 😀 I don't know what it is about it, but it just freaks me out man :scared: What the heck is it?

Medic170--

The reason I can't really keep quiet about the AMCAS mistake is that the summary section for my coursework looks very strange. The is a big zero for my whole sophomore year. There is a page full of zero credits for all those classes. One look and it's obvious something's wrong. I'd hardly want to have some school question me about why I didn't follow up on this.

Plus if you read my post in the thread about AMCAS investigations, you'll know I'm just paranoid in general! 😉

OK. Yeah, I would have turned that in too. I was thinking it was just a minor error.

I just submitted my AMCAS yesterday, so I am, of course, still "active." Do you guys think I'm late or average for submission? My transcripts are already in.

Also, when I went to print my application after submitting it, my personal statement appears to be one paragraph!!!!!!!!! But, I put it in notepad and copied and pasted as they advised, and when I looked at it on the box where we enter it, all the paragraphs and indentations were there! So, how did this happen and is there anything I can do?? Moreover, how screwed am I for admisions? This is going to look like I didn't care or proofread, butI proofread the hell out of my statement, and it looked PERFECT in the box. I hate AMCAS!!!! Maybe I'll call them...

😡 that's me, at the spring ball.

u're officially on my black list. i hope you like pain.

🙂

katec12345, i would say that you are at least "average," if not still a little early for AMCAS submission (SDN be damned).

as for your personal statement, i'm sure you're fine there, too. i guarantee adcoms see that kind of stuff constantly, and that it won't disqualify you from admissions. don't call AMCAS unless something really BIG is wrong. good luck! 🙂

to go on a semi-related rant....

i would wager that AMCAS processing/verification times would be cut IN HALF if the people on SDN didn't call them 673 times per day. just think; everyone could be transmitted before the end of july if it weren't for the constant harassment in the style of "i've been squinting at my monitor for hours, and i swear that one of my colons in my personal statement keeps showing up as a SEMI-colon! damn you all to hell!! you're keeping me out of medical school!!!!!!"

any takers on my bet? 😀

HAHA, thanks for the reassurance.....and I think you're bet is probably about right, and I promise I won't call them and hold anyone up! 🙂

AMCAS bastards...or possibly, lying SDN bastards...it makes me crazy to think about people submitting the same day or later than me and already being processed...circumstances, shmircumstances, they should start verifying by order the app went active...

6/28 - submit
6/28 - active
waiting....

Liz

krebse,

ya, ya, me too. submitted 6/25, active 6/28, and nothin' so far.

i'll be ok if its processed this week, though.

by the way, do schools download our applications after they have been "processed," or "verified"? i hope its "processed," but since that's my hope, i'm sure its not. 😡 SDN can be one frustrating place, man....

Processed = Verified

Same thing

And your complete app is available for download only after you are processed. However, schools can download stuff like you name and address whenever.

Processed = Verified
no sh/t??? wow, i've been really confused about this whole mess, then.

thanks for the info.

ummmmmmm yeah..

so when do they start sending apps to the schools? when to expect 2ndaries?

~L

Don't worry so much about the date, rather worry if you can pay for those secondaries!!

If AMCAS loses your transcripts, will they email you?

Unfortunately no. You are responsible for making sure your transcripts get to AMCAS and then that they are properly paired with your application.

I sent in my transcripts before I started my online application. Even though I got an e-mail from AMCAS verifying that my transcripts had been recieved, when I submitted my app my status indicated that they had not been recieved. I tried using e-mail to sort it out but that didn't work out too well so I eventually just called and set things straight.

Bottom line - you're responsible. That doesn't mean harass AMCAS, but make sure you follow-through if something doesn't seem right or is taking way too long.

i just got an email from umass med school indicating my application had been transferred there. when i log onto amcas, I don't see any indication of this but it seems like today they have definitely transferred some of the applications!

congrats carlene..

i guess now the proper action for the rest of us is.. hurry up and wait! it's cool though..at least the ball is rolling..

~LR 😳

same here, i got an email from UMASS with secondaries, too. logged on to AMCAS --no change in the menu appearance at all. I actually need AMCAS to fix a mistake they made on my course grades, and they haven't done that yet, either.

Submitted: 6/18 -->went to active and then verification with ~ 3 days
Processed: 6/28

Submitted Academic Change Request: 7/2/04
AMCAS operator assured me that it would
take ~1-2 days to correct my application.
Corrected AMCAS app: ?? still waiting

anybody use the internet check option for paying AMCAS? I got immediate verification that it all went through just fine, but the amount hasn't been debited from my account yet...anyone?...I'm wondering if this could be part of the hold-up on getting verified...

Yeah I used it and didn't have a problem. As long as they accepted it in the beginning, there should be no problem I think ...

Submitted (2nd time thanks to NYU) - 6/21
Verified/Processed - 7/6

The funny thing was that I was never in the "verifying in progress stage". I have a feeling that there is someone over at AMCAS who is being lazy and who is not turning on the "verifying in progress" flag while they are working on the application, as eveyone who has had to wait for a couple of weeks has bypassed the "verifying in progress" stage. (was that a run-on sentence? If it was, good for me.)

I received an email from a school today saying that they had received my AMCAS application, but when I look at my actual AMCAS welcome page, it doesn't say that it's been transmitted to any school.... kind of confused....

they are soooo slow..i think some stuff has been transmitted, but maybe AMCAS doesn't actually update the application page itself, they just transmit, esp. if some folks are already getting invites to submit a supp. app. whaddya think?

Yep I think they ARE already transmitting. What I meant by my earlier post was that I called because I had to do a request for academic change thing whatever that was called....and they said that would take at least ten days. It is frustrating because does that mean schools are only going to have my incorrect AMCAS application and I need to send all of them the updated version. grrrrrrrrr.

hey everybody,

i submitted my AMCAS on 6/25, and it was "active" the following monday (6/28, i think). when i checked my AMCAS log-in screen this morning, under application status it says "verification." does this step imply a lot more waiting, or is this the light at the end of the tunnel?

i think some of you said that your app went straight from "active" to "processed," so do you think that maybe the "verification" step is only temporary (like a day or so) and maybe you just missed it? how long does the "verification" step of this damn thing last anyway? 🙁

thanks,
sd

To Superdevil:
I didn't see verification, so I'm guessing it should temporary. It probably depends on who handles your application. As other posters mentioned, a couple of AMCAS staffs probably just don't bother changing your status from active to in verification. I'd expect your app be processed today or tomorrow. Good Luck!

glad you've been processed, panda, and i hope you're right!

Mine was like that for about 8 hours.

Active 6/29

will they send you an email when you have been verified or do you need to keep checking to see if your status changes from active to verified?

I emailed AMCAS this question on Monday and they said the welcome page of the AMCAS app will no longer show transmission dates. I think we're all going to stay 'Processed' forever. They said you just have to watch your inbox carefully to ensure all the schools receive your materials. Kind of sucks.

You won't get an email when they start verification, but you will get one when verification is complete and you're considered 'Processed'.

Does AMCAS send out our apps? Or, do Med schools download them( I mean request them)?

popular opinion says schools download them...explaining the different dates the auto-secondaries go out on...

Termwean,
i'm fairly certain that the med schools download them. i think AMCAS basically just serves as a database that the schools use at their leisure.

it feels so good....

submitted: 6/25
active: 6/28 (i think)
processed: 7/7 (on to the next phase....) 👍 👍

Ahhhh... cool. That clarifies it - thanks! You saved me an email to AMCAS. It does suck that we're going to basically keep track of transmission ourselves.

Holy crap, I feel so behind. I haven't started any apps yet, just decided to take the Aug. MCAT today. I'm so muffed over. 😱 Plus, I need to call AMCAS; it appears as though I've been locked out of the system.

I'm totally behind.

Sev.

I'm totally behind.
Severus, don't judge your progress based on what you see on SDN. you WILL go insane. trust me, i've been there.

Whew... I'm wiping the sweat off my brow. I've got to keep reminding myself that this place is full of one-the-ball superstar people. 😛

Sev

dhoonlee-

I got the same thing from UCONN; what happens is the school can still see you are applying to them, even though your app hasn't been verified. Some schools without selective secondaries will therefore send out the "Hey, fill out our secondary and send us a check" letters right away.

Finally I can join the processed club.

Let the 2ndaries roll in.

Any word from people who submitted 6/30-7/1 yet? I know it's early but I'm SOO anxious. I'm sure others can relate!
