A lot of my wife's friends are hyperliberal, antivaxxer weirdos (and before anyone gets triggered, I know there are conservative antivaxxers--I work with one, and he is just as nutter butters). Listening to her read their stupid Facebook posts is maddening.

Oh lord, the social media antivaxxers are the best. Your wife works in peds, right? I do too, the treatments/tests people refuse for their baybeez are ridiculous. It's sad because I feel like they are trying to do the best for their kid, but it's so misguided and ignorant. I blame the internet and mommy blogs.

She's had to call CPS on parents because they skip their kids' appointments, don't give them their chemo, and sometimes because they disappear from the clinic to try and treat their kids' cancer with **** like orange peels and lemon rinds. It's disgusting how many ****ty parents there are.

It takes a toll on her. She was happy to go on maternity leave. The first time, after a few weeks she told me she feels so great not having to stab kids with needles to give them chemo or deal with ****ty parents who don't care about their kids.

The only things being ridiculed are the "treatments" people cling to with zero evidence of their effectiveness. Lavender oil has a demonstrable effect on anxiety. Sniff some of that.
