Hey everyone, I just wanted to get your thoughts on my plan for my adversity essay. While I was in the Navy, I was trained in several war fighting areas. At my last command, I was tasked with planning and executing the Navy Reserve Centennial event that marked the reserves 100th anniversary in Los Angeles. Planning such a large event was something I was completely unfamiliar with and in fact something I felt incapable of doing; regardless, I accepted the challenge. In the end, the event turned out to be an absolute success. The 3 star admiral in charge of the entire Navy Reserves was in attendance and had said that my event was the best celebration she had been to during her tour across the US. Aside from being completely unprepared for this role, I was also chosen to be the MC for the event. The week leading up to the event I had terrible pain in my eye that took me to the ER at 2 in the morning because it was so unbearable. The docs could not diagnose me with anything, so I carried on with final preps. The day of the event I wake up to the entire left side of my face swollen and my left eye nearly swollen shut. I MCd the event through the pain and left immediately afterwards for the ER where I was diagnosed with shingles in my left eye. I was out of work the entire next week.
