Any 27-29 MCAT with interviews????

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I've got nothing but 3 rejections so far, but I've been told that this process requires a lot of confidence and patience, especially since the cycle just started. I think most of us will receive more interview invites in October. The best of the best are getting the invitations right now.

I'll join this as well. 27 (9/9/9) and 3.7 with 1 II (GW) and a handful of rejections

27 here: one MD rejection, one MD II - both from my state schools, funny enough. The other 6-8 MD schools outside my state have been mysteriously silent...

Just wanted to leave this here:

29 mcat, 4.0 gpa. 7 MD II. I've attended two already. One at a Florida state school, another at Penn State. I've received 3 rejections and I was complete in mid to end July at most schools, except for three of them that sent secondaries later.

It's possible!

I have a 27 MCAT (8,9,10) and a 3.79 GPA. I have one (sort of...it's complicated) in state school that doesn't even review applications until November but in the mean time I have 3 II with one interview complete and the next one in a week.

It feels like such a random process when they give out interviews. I'd gotten two a while ago, then nothing but silence until two weeks ago when I was able to schedule my interview for a week after the invite was sent.

3.83 27mcat here (7,9,11) hoping schools can see through my ****ty PS score and give me a shot since I did decent on the scores that matter most. Great ECs years working in a hospital and 4+ papers published 2 in major journals 1 first author, really hoping for a shot but I'm still prepping a retake! Where's the hope?!

Have a nearly identical breakdown, except I have an 11 verbal and 9 bs. Almost identical GPA and extensive ECs myself. No interviews yet, crossing my fingers. Best of luck to you.

28 MCAT and low GPA...have 4 interviews...3 of which are from state schools I'm not a resident of...such a random process!

That's amazing, congrats! Did you discover the cure for cancer, won a Nobel prize or something? What's the secret? 🙂
Lol I wish. I have a lot of research experience. But, I really believe that applying early helped, and focusing my essays on schools' missions as well as looking at their news blurbs and see what they are really interested in.

Glad to see the neurosis here is still alive and thriving. Now that I'm 8 years past the application cycle, it's sad/funny to see people reducing their hopes and dreams to a set of numbers. I did it, don't get me wrong, but there are worse things in the world than getting a 29 on your MCAT.

So are you saying we'll be fine? It's hard not to be neurotic sometimes though when we have worked so hard and yet receive the impression that we might not get into anywhere because numbers are the most important factor in the admissions' decisions.

I would like to think that I am not reduced to a set of numbers. Unfortunately, I think this is just the sad reality of med school admission. My numbers are not good, but I believe I have the characters, personality, ability, and extra-curricular experience that makes me a good candidate. But so far, I have received zero interview invites, only 6 rejections and 2 holds. It is heart-breaking to know that my hopes and dreams are going to go nowhere because of my numbers. It looks like everyone is at least getting one interview, and I have none. Am I done for this cycle?

Dude, chill. It's only September. A lot of people get more interviews even in December and January.

@AkGrown84 Where are your are med school interviews at? This would really help me during my application process. By the way, good luck!

27 with high VR and BS 3.8, exceptional ECs still nothing but I was complete at mid to late August at everywhere

Friend's sister, 29 MCAT, unknown stats but biochem degree from liberal college, 2 interviews so far from 1 MD and 1 DO school. Texas resident.

*edit* 10/12/14 3 MD schools so far, 1 DO interview. It can happen.

Why is your MDapps ID "12?" This is confusing.

I was offered interviews at U of Washington, U of Kansas, and Drexel for MD and PCOM, LMU-DCOM, PNWU, and Touro-NV for DO. I attended all but one, matriculated in August! Fairly random, complete crapshoot! Good luck!

got accepted to one school last cycle with a 26-28 mcat and high gpa. had several interviews but got waitlisted and rejected by most. I spent so much time on this thread it really helped make me feel less nervous. apply early and to many schools but don't feel bad if you don't get accepted this cycle. There's always next cycle and if anyone with a 27-29 mcat and good gpa reapplies - assuming you do things to improve your application - the student is going to get accepted eventually. the worst part is when people ask you if you've been accepted yet. try not to worry about what they think. you'll get in eventually if you don't give up

This thread inspires hope! Got my MCAT back two days ago.. (ps-6/vr-11/bs-10) my ps avg had been a 10.5

I'm a URM (hispanic-1/2salvadoran) & USAF Vet - SC state resident that transferred into a top 5 UG school (c-3.93 s-3.95)

my brain was fried on MCAT due to reserve training all summer. I have every box checked, and all the activities are related to Veterans issues: clinical volunteering at the VA, PTSD research, non-clinical veterans volunteering etc... + strong LOR's

Any suggestions on what MD schools I should apply to, already submitted this cycle then the MCAT came back and crushed my dreams of bay area schools (UCSF/Stanford).

Right now it's just: MUSC, South Carolina, & South Carolina-Greenville

any suggestions on other spots I may have a chance appreciated

28 (8/9/11), cGPA: 3.26, sGPA: 3.19, Postbacc: 4.0, 1 interview invite so far :')

MCAT average: 9.0. GPA: 3.3 (after post-bac); STEM 3.8 (after post-bac). MD only schools.
3 interview OOS 1 instate, and 1 rejection from Mayo. Otherwise still waiting for IS and many others after being complete everywhere, on average, late September. It is possible, just show them your utmost interest!

Edit 1/29/15: 4 interviews, 3 acceptances. (It's possible, just show them all you have done to follow your path!)

Great EC's, research exp, 3.9 GPA with 3.5 BCPM.
9 BS, 10 VR, 7 PS

28 (7ps/11v/10bs) 3.7~ish GPA, non-trad with HC experience and good leadership ECs but no research, non-URM. Complete from late August to mid September at most places. Fist II today at LECOM =) Hopefully I'll get more chances in the months to come!

27 MCAT (high Bio), Non-trad. Good ECs/Letters.
Secondaries sent out in August...22 MD schools remain silent. Received one II on 10/17. On hold at GW.
The long wait continues. Good luck everyone!

Up to seven MD IIs and one acceptance...several of the IIs have been in the last few weeks. Keep your heads up, everybody, there's plenty of time!

Hey I was just wondering if you could give me a little bit more info about your stats and what activities you had that helped you get interviews to all those schools. Are you URM? The reason I ask is because I also go to a Jesuit school and my top choices are the schools that interviewed you. Thanks so much!
