Any 27-29 MCAT with interviews????

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

After getting bashed to all hell for expressing my disappointment in my current MD cycle after putting in several years of work past your typical undergraduate applicant, I've been staying away from this thread for a while.

But, I luv u 2 🙂

It's when you say stuff like this, dawg...

Actually, thats like the first time I've said anything like that. Its true though. Traditional applicants have 3 years of EC's, gpas, and so forth. Non traditional applicants have 4 +. But then I think there are a decent amount of non-traditional applicants in this thread alone.

But lets not start an argument about this or whatever, or else I'll be painted as the "bad guy" again. lol

So true..
Followed by the inevitable claim that everyone else is picking on him. The dude is clueless

No not everyone, just you and a few others. Also I wouldnt describe it as "picking" on me either. Its more like hostile attacks with hateful intent.

"The dude is clueless" is actually one of your less malicious comments. Many of your comments are dismissive, passive aggressive comments as well.

Unless this was last cycle, this is impossible.

Schools cannot accept people until mid-October.

Oh really?

Is that only for MD schools?

I was under the impression that DO schools accepted people earlier.

Yes.

I have no idea about DO schools, though I'd be pretty surprised and skeptical of an August acceptance...

Yea, ok that makes sense then because I do know of some people getting August acceptances and Sept acceptances from DO schools.

What do you mean by "skeptical" though?

Lots of people have gotten DO acceptances by this point. It's not even remotely sketchy or worthy of skepticism.

I was wondering what he meant by "skepticism". That can mean so many things in this context lol

Haha no worries man owning up to it is respectable

Edit: but I do agree that the guy shouldnt be posting "28 and accepted" in Pre-Allo if his acceptance is in fact DO. This thread is supposed to be for md interviews only!

Thats exactly what I was saying before.

So, xyphr did you already have your MD interviews?

@Gandy741 They are both scheduled for the last week of September. Wish me luck man! Praying for you as well. I've also gotten like 5 rejections so don't feel bad

Oh dude, I've been rooting for you since day 1. It looks like you have a strong app since you got UC IIs. I had my AZCOM interview, and It seems like a great school. I have no idea how I did though... some of these interviewers are absolute pros. Cannot get a read on them at all lol

@Gandy741 I think I got really lucky man, lots of my friends with LizzyM 70+ haven't heard anything back from the schools I got interviews to. God is on my side. And that's awesome for AZCOM! I'm rooting for you too man, that is one of the best DO schools in the world!

Yea, I have family and friends that live in Arizona so that was one of my reasons for "why AZCOM".

Well, one DO II so far and no MD II's (one pre-secondary rejection from EVMS). I'm really hoping to start hearing some good news from more schools soon.

If you look as cute as your avatar, then you should be getting about 10 more MD II's soon.

Happy to post this update. Received an interview from my state school OHSU this afternoon!

That's awesome, congrats!!!!! I'd be so ecstatic if my state school(s) gave me attention lol

this thread makes me so happy/hopeful!

Thanks! I've been viewing this thread for a couple months now and love the community feel here. Us 27-29ers have been doing well so far 🙂.

Ah I know! And it's still pretty early in the cycle so I'm hoping things just keep getting better for us all

I made an account specifically to post this. I am applying this cycle and have already received 6 MD interview invites. Needless to say I am pretty stoked about my early success.

My stats are 3.81 cGPA and 29 MCAT (10PS/9VR/10BS)

extracurriculars are pretty typical although I have 4 years of military service and 5 years of work at a medical consulting firm.

I am not a superstar but I put an insane amount of time into my essays which I feel helped a lot.

I am posting this because I have been reading this thread for months looking for inspiration. Good luck to everyone out there!

@redmex145 That's awesome man! Good for you! That's a killer app given that you served in the military for four years too.

I'm sure lots of people will have this question so I will go ahead and ask it if you don't mind sharing: what six schools, and when were you generally complete at them?

With all due respect, the dude didn't even say his MCAT score and also had a 4.0 lol.

I sped read that essay and didn't even notice that the practice exams were between the 27-29. He apparently wouldn't actually divulge what his true MCAT was. However let's say for argument sake that his MCAT was a 26, that's a Lizzy M of 66.

If he is an instate applicant to Wright State in addition to his research at highly regarded institutions it is not surprising to me that he got in.
I went to High School with this dude. He was a brilliant student. He did well in college as well, but I guess he slacked when taking the MCAT. He is a user here http://forums.studentdoctor.net/members/williamsfan.488307/
Looking at his posts I found this: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/3-9-gpa-23-mcat-black-male-any-advice.1085014/

His MCAT was a 23!

He was URM however, so that is why he got in with this MCAT (not saying the rest of his application was not good, but a non URM would never get in).

So far its USUHS, Thomas Jefferson, Rutgers RWJMS, Hofstra, The Commonwealth Medical College, and New York Medical College. I was complete at USUHS, Thomas Jefferson, Hofstra, and TCMC by mid July. The rest were completed by the second week of August.

Congrats on the interviews! Those are some really awesome schools you are interviewing at.

Once I read black, didn't bother continuing to finish lol... sad that's the way it is.

I think it depends on what schools u got IIs at and ur chances there plus whether you wouldnt mind being a DO doctor. You can def apply to couple DOs as a safety. I had a friend who got into a DO school and deferred for a year to reapply for MD and got into a MD school. He had DO spot just in case but worked out great for him in the end.
