Any 27-29 MCAT with interviews????

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone have an idea of the average number of interviews a typical student receives if they applied to 15 schools ?

Is anyone still waiting on their first MD school II?

GAH just got my second II! :') too past excited and grateful! One more hopeful to go....but that one is Stanford soooo I'm like:

I hope to be joining this thread here this week ... 504 mcat, so about a 28, 3.9/3.8 applied to 20 schools

I got a 29 -9/10/10. I only applied to my state schools(LSU) but I received interviews in the previous cycle. The upper 20s is considered competitive in Louisiana and our medical schools are fairly well-reputed. I think SDN tends to blow the MCAT scores a bit out of proportion. Of course, the top tier schools are going to be different and OOS applicants are probably going to need to shine a little more.

This is what my experience has taught me about medical school applications : Your grades show your dedication to understanding the material, your MCAT shows your adaptability to new academic challenges and your ability to think on your feet(It doesn't take a 35 to prove you are capable enough in this regard), and your ECs/application/interview shows what kind of person you are/ if you have made a rational choice in pursuing medicine. All three are important and a 27-29 MCAT doesn't always hold applicants back by itself when it comes to your average MD school.

29 mcat, 8 II's so far. But I'm also a Texas resident.

WOW! How did you receive that many interviews already? Congrats! :highfive:

If you dont mind me asking whats ur GPA and when were you complete? and did you cure cancer or something on ur EC? I have a 29 and a TX resident too and I only have TCOM for a II.

Haha thanks! It's actually 9 II's now lol. I have 4.00 but other then being a student athlete in college I have avg EC's. All of my interviewers so far have told me that I have great essays so that probably has something to do with it. I was complete in June, early July for UTSW.

yes, but it is a very high ranked and competitive school, they want higher stats.

So is UT Southwestern. Interview season isn't over yet, who knows maybe Baylor will show me some love too

I hope so! By no means was I trying to talk smack about you just so you know.... just stating the facts.

The fact is, no pre-med knows what Baylor wants. And no worries! I didn't take offense to your comments.

congrats!! mind sharing your stats? both awesome schools!!

I'm IS for UWSOM, OOS for all others. Got invite at UMich...and waiting for Stanford. Those are the 3 I plan to attend.

28 MCAT, 3.66 AMCAS GPA (3.75 Transcript), 3.5 sGPA nontrad

Can't lie...Wish I lived in Texas...they so IS some SERIOUS LOVE when it comes to acceptance and tuition! More states should follow suit!

Congrats on such a promising cycle thus far @Cookie04

Not to mention how many opportunities for a MD acceptance you have as a Texas resident. Dont they have like 9 MD schools?

I've been complete since mid-august for most of my MD apps. 1 hold, no II's, no rejections. I need to hear something from one school next week, or I'm going to go crazy!

Hey it could be worse. I've been complete at most of the MD schools I applied to since mid to late July. I have 2 rejections and 1 hold. Rest are silence.

My MD cycle is is going so poorly.

How have your DO interviews gone so far?? Which ones did you attend

That's good to hear, which others do you have coming up? I haven't attended anything yet, getting antsy.

KCU and CCOM are coming up. Right now though, KCU and DMU are my top choices. AZCOM was extremely impressive as well and would be a great school to go to.

But wait, I thought you had gone to some MD interviews already? I guess I was mistaken. How many total DO and MD interviews do you have so far?

I wish- I currently have the 1 MD II that I received back in July, 3 rejections, 2 holds, and a ton of deafening silence. And I have 2 DO IIs as well.

my 3 interviews are coming up this month though.

I just added CCOM recently, it seems like a great school, just further geographically than I had initially planned when I made my DO list back in June. I didn't apply to KCU or DMU, do you mind me asking what general region you are from in the country?

I'm really hoping to hear back from PCOM as well.

Yea, I'm from the Midwest. Well, if you wouldnt mind living in the Midwest, then I would seriously add DMU and KCU especially since you added CCOM anyways. Des Moines and Kansas City are both great cities.

Edit: Plus DMU is literally the 2nd oldest DO school in the nation.

I'll look into them, thanks.

How many DOs did you apply to? I'm still waiting on Touro-NYs secondary, needed the break though- super burnt out

EDIT: I'm from the Northeast, I'm extremely unknowledgeable about the Midwest and its cities haha

About 14. But now I look back on it, I should have only applied to like 8 DO schools and more MD schools. I applied to 23 MD schools but we both know how that is going for me.

I just saw your edit: As far as cities in the Midwest go, its nothing like the coasts. most of the Midwest is John Deere Tractors, Cows, Farms, and Rice/Corn. Basically there is nothing to do and it can get boring real quick.

The large cities are wonderful though. Very high standard civilization with many opportunities and lots to do. KC, Des Moines, Columbia, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Shrevport etc.
